Some also believe that it is called Sutra Pitaka because it teaches profound meanings in a concise way. However, our own tradition considers it the treasury of vidyādharas, separate from the three pitakas, making it independent and establishing it as the fourth pitaka, which seems better. As it is said in the Kunjed Gyalpo Tantra: "The antidote spoken to subdue desire is, the Vinaya Pitaka, twenty-one thousand verses. The antidote spoken to subdue hatred is, the Sutra Pitaka, twenty-one thousand verses. The antidote spoken to subdue ignorance is, the Abhidhamma Pitaka, twenty-one thousand verses. The antidote spoken to subdue all is, the Fourth Pitaka, twenty-one thousand verses." Also, as it is said in the Pungzang's Questions: "Thirty million and five million, are what the Victorious One spoke as the Vidyādhara Pitaka." Furthermore, as it is said in the commentary on the Vajravidāraṇā Dhāraṇī composed by the teacher Buddhaguhya: "The Dharma spoken by the Supreme Buddha, exists in the four pitakas of Vinaya, Sutra, Abhidhamma, and Vidyādharas." Therefore, the treasury of Vajrayana, the treasury of Vidyādharas, the treasury of Mantras, the Fourth Pitaka, and the tantras of these Dharmas are all different names for the same thing. Among them, the basis of Mantra is: the sphere to be purified, which is naturally pure, and all the Dharmas that depend on it, including what is to be purified and what purifies. That is, the impurities to be purified that depend on the sphere to be purified, after the continuum is ripened by empowerment, the aspiration and practice related to it, and the qualities of attainment that are part of it, are all what purifies. Having purified in this way, all the subtle and coarse impurities that obscure the sphere are purified, and the qualities of the ground manifest as they are, which is the result. As it is said in the Secret Accomplishment: "The result of being free from impurities on the sphere, Mantras are taught in four ways." The definition of Mantra is: the Dharmadhatu is naturally pure, and the secret of the Vajra of the Buddha's mind, along with its retinue, which is expressed. As it is said in the Vajraśekhara: "The definition of all Mantras is, the mind of all Buddhas, which accomplishes the essence of Dharma."

Perfectly corresponds to the Dharmadhatu. Above. The etymology of mantra is, if explained from the word "Mantra", it is mantra because the mind quickly protects bliss. The latter part of the Guhyasamaja Tantra says: "Man means mind, Tra means the meaning of protection." Above. The classification of secret mantras is, if according to the common view of the new and old, it can be divided into four types. The Vajra Heart Ornament Tantra says: "The Tantras conceived by the Sugata, Are truly explained as four types, Action, Performance, Yoga, and Unsurpassed." It is said like that. There are five reasons for dividing into four types. First, considering the behavior of the four types of people, four types were spoken to subdue them. The Cemetery Ornament Tantra says: "Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas, Shudras and Chandalas are subdued, The Tantras are said to be four types, Action, Performance, Yoga, and Unsurpassed." It is said like that. Second, considering the four types of intelligence of beings, four types were also spoken. The Latter Contemplation says: "For inferior sentient beings, the Action Tantra, For those above them, the Performance Tantra, For superior sentient beings, the Yoga Tantra, For those above them, the Unsurpassed Tantra." It is said like that. Third, considering the four ages of perfection and so on, four types were spoken. The Auspicious Garland Excellent Tantra says: "There are four ways in which secret mantras arise, Perfect, Three-Perfect, and Two-Perfect Kalpas, The Tantras of the Age of Strife are also like that, They appear before those to be tamed." It is said like that. Fourth, considering the four ways in which the object to be abandoned, attachment, enters, four types were also spoken. The Two Examinations says: "Looking, laughing, holding hands, Embracing, uniting, and so on, The Tantras are also said to have four aspects." It is said like that. Fifth, considering that the four inversions that follow the four gods are corrected, four types were also spoken. In order to follow those who are ignorant and say that Brahma's purity is the Dharma, the Action Tantra was spoken; in order to follow those who are hateful and say that Vishnu's harm is the Dharma, the Performance Tantra was spoken; in order to follow those who are arrogant and say that Indra's wealth is the Dharma, the Yoga Tantra was spoken; in order to follow those who are attached and say that Ishvara's attachment is the Dharma, the Unsurpassed Yoga Tantra was spoken. These, from the spoken, the speaker, and so on, one by one.
