By cultivating devotion with the thought that the place of arising is the local ground, the recollection of pure deeds and learning will be consistent. Second, the recollection of the purity of meaning is: The mandala and so forth that are meditated upon in this way should never be meditated upon as substantial concrete things, and moreover, they should not be bound by attachment to mere ordinary self-appearance. Although they appear, they are without inherent existence. The emptiness of mind itself arises as the form of the deity. The essence of the deity's form is not established as other than the emptiness of mind itself. One must understand it as the nature of the union of appearance and emptiness. As it says in the Heart Sutra: "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form. Emptiness is not other than form, form is not other than emptiness." One should understand it according to its meaning. Having practiced the generation stage with clarity, stability, and purity for a long time, one gradually obtains clear appearances in the three places. Eventually, the four measures of clarity and the four measures of stability become powerful, and when one reaches the peak of extreme clarity that can prevent ordinary appearance and attachment, then the generation stage has reached its limit. Second, the yoga of recitation is: By reciting in accordance with the speech vajra, one purifies the defilements of body, speech, and mind. And since the deity of mantra arises from mantra, it is the nature of things that by practicing the cause, mantra, the wisdom deity of the result will become closer. As it is said: "The generation stage is like a fire, recitation is like the wind that stirs it." As it says, it quickly produces the power of meditation. There are five stages of recitation: recitation of body, speech, mind, qualities, and activity. First, the meditation samadhi for the recitation of the body that purifies obscurations is: Oneself is the samaya Tara, and in one's heart is the wisdom mother Vajravarahi, dark blue, holding a curved knife and a skull cup, with her feet in a dancing posture standing on a lotus and sun disc. In the center of that, within the combined sun and moon kapala, is the samadhi hero, the green letter (Tibetan: ཏཱཾ་, Devanagari: ताṃ, Romanized Sanskrit: tāṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 当). Around that are the rosaries of the mantra to be recited, shining like sunlight falling on clear crystal, from which rays of light emanate. The inside of the body is filled with clear light, and one visualizes that the two obscurations and their habitual tendencies accumulated since beginningless time are purified in an instant, like the sun rising in a dark room, and one performs the recitation of the body. Second, the recitation of speech that bestows blessings, the object of focus is as before.

From that, rays of light emanate from the garland of mantras to be recited, pervading the boundless realms of the ten directions. Offerings of inconceivable clouds of offerings are made to the Buddhas and their sons, pleasing them. The blessings of their body, speech, and mind, the supreme and common siddhis, and all the essences of the five wisdoms are gathered in the form of light and bindus, dissolving into oneself. Meditate on becoming non-dual and recite the mantra of speech. Third, the mantra of mind that stimulates great bliss is: From the nada of the mind's life-force, the syllable Tam (ཏཱཾ, tam,怛[合*童]), an unbroken garland of mantras arises. From the mouth of the principal consort, it goes into the mouth of the father. From the secret vajra, it passes through the lotus of the mother, dissolving into the mind's life-force. Like a revolving firebrand, it revolves continuously, giving rise to the wisdom of great bliss in the minds of the father and mother. Meditate on attaining the supreme, unchanging, great mudra siddhi and recite the mind mantra. The number of these three mantras is said to be one hundred thousand each. Fourth, the recitation of the complete mandala of qualities is: The seed syllable (ཏཱཾ, tam,怛[合*童]) is surrounded by the garland of mantras to be recited, and oneself is visualized as the deities of the mandala, with bodies of various sizes, large and small. The speech is the garland of mantras, the mind is the hand implements, and the collection of five-colored rays of light, like particles of sunlight, fills the expanse of space. It becomes an unsurpassed offering to the mandala of the Three Roots and the victorious ones. Purify the two obscurations of all sentient beings in the three realms. Make appearances, sounds, and thoughts into a play of deities, mantras, and wisdom. Visualize everything gathering back and dissolving into oneself, and recite the quality mantra, the number of which is four hundred thousand. Fifth, the recitation to bring activities to their culmination is: After the previous recitations have reached their measure, from the four places of the crown of the head, throat, heart, and navel of all the deities, the principal and retinue, countless white, red, blue, and yellow rays of light emanate, pervading all the realms of the world. Protect sentient beings from the eight and sixteen great fears that harm their three doors. Meditate on the spontaneous accomplishment of the four activities of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and wrathful, and recite four hundred thousand vidya mantras. At the end of the session, offer praise and recite the root praise from the king of tantras. Third, the yoga of completion is: With the generation stage, cut off the extreme of clinging to permanence.
