If, through observation, the mind that is the basis of delusion has not been realized, then what need is there to speak of anything else? Having made such a determination, one recognizes one's own nature. Guru Padmasambhava once said, regarding the intent of the sound of a horse's neigh: The example of the vajra horse's neigh is placed in the sky. Because the nature of the sky is unborn and unceasing, all of phenomenal existence is symbolized by nirvana. Having said this, one cultivates that pure view that cuts through all superimpositions, without distraction. In that state, wanting to practice the uncommon path of Vajrayana, the union of generation and completion stages, in an instant, on a seat of a lotus, sun, and moon, with proud men and women intertwined, one meditates on the great powerful one with three faces and six arms, together with his consort, just by means of mantra. Then, one arranges a beautiful thangka in front, at an appropriate distance, height, and level, and gazes at it without letting the eyes and mind wander. When all parts of the body are clear, one shifts the focus elsewhere and holds the mind. If it is not clear, one shifts the focus back to the thangka, alternating back and forth. At night, if the meditation on the great powerful one is clear, one holds the mind on that. If it is not clear, one clarifies each part of the body one by one, and it is very important to keep the mind focused and undistracted during that meditation. When it is clear, one holds the mind on that. When one is somewhat accustomed to that, one thinks that the clear body of the great powerful one fills all the realms of the world, and one trains in holding a vast mind. To train in the subtle is: to reduce the body of the great powerful one to the size of a thumb, or to the size of a mustard seed or rapeseed, and to train and meditate on that. To train in meditating on objects with characteristics is: to train in meditating on oneself or the great powerful one in front as being clear, actually existing, and permanent. To train in meditating on many or expanding is: light radiates from the heart of the clear great powerful one, striking the outer world, turning it into a palace. Striking sentient beings, turning them into great powerful ones, clarifying each one, and meditating on the outer and inner world as the mandala of the great powerful one. Gathering is: gathering the outer and inner world in sequence into the heart of the great powerful one. One also gathers oneself into the seed syllable in the heart. Then one meditates on non-objectification. Again, one meditates on the outer world as a single great palace. In that, one meditates on oneself as the deity body of the great powerful one, filling it and being clear. Again, one meditates on the palace as being the size of a thumb, and in that one meditates on the great powerful one as a great body, and the palace

Do not become narrow. Do not become small, meditate without width or narrowness. Again, visualize a large palace, with the body as small as before. Again, focus the mind on the palace at the tip of the nose, with the nine deities as small as mustard seeds. Then, introducing the three bodies of the generation stage and the union of generation and completion stages, etc.: All phenomena of samsara and nirvana have been pure from the very beginning, Unfabricated, like the sky, free from all extremes of elaboration. Not falling into any side of existence, non-existence, permanence, or annihilation, and free from affirmation, that is the Dharmakaya. In that state, like the moon in water, or the reflection in a mirror, or a rainbow, the body of the Great Empowerment appears clearly, that is the Sambhogakaya. From any part of that, such as the heart, rays of light or emanations appear, that is the Nirmanakaya. The clear appearance of the Great Empowerment is the generation stage, knowing its lack of inherent existence is the completion stage. The inseparability of the two is the union. The detailed generation stage, completion stage, and correct view should be understood in writing. This is the path of the vase empowerment. The yoga of recitation is: In the navel of oneself, appearing as the Great Empowerment, visualize an eight-petaled lotus, with (ཧྲཱིཿ,hrih,hrīḥ,seed syllable hrih) at its center. Visualize the eight petals surrounded by the root mantra. From that, red rays of light emanate. They appear from the nostrils to about four fingers' distance. Offerings are made to the noble ones. After benefiting sentient beings, inhale. Purify one's own sins and obscurations. Visualize attaining common and supreme accomplishments. Mentally count the mantras, and learn to align the three of exhaling, inhaling, and abiding, focusing without distraction. Then, learn the path of the secret empowerment, practicing Chandali yoga: The body takes the seven-point posture of Vairochana, or any of the six fire hearth postures. Expel the breath forcefully and long three times. Then, inhale slowly and long, pressing down towards the lower abdomen along with saliva. Raise the lower air, and to the extent that you can bear it, concentrate the air and mind into one within the area of about four fingers below the navel. When you cannot bear it, release it slowly. Then, among the eighteen fire visualizations, first is the warmth of the root blessing: Simply believing that you are the Great Empowerment, sitting on the solid ground below, on the top of your head, on a precious throne, on a lotus and moon seat, the root guru Amitabha sits in the vajra posture. The body is
