It is appropriate to think intensely: Have you finished your work? The Lord of Death will not stay, whatever excellent Dharma that should be practiced, strive to do it today. As the great teacher said: Half of the short life is spent in the sleep of ignorance, and two-thirds of the remaining half are spent in distraction and noise, and the remaining one-third is also full of obstacles and the control of conditions. Therefore, conditioned phenomena are as fleeting as autumn clouds, life is as unreliable as lightning in the sky, karma follows like a shadow, and the body with youth also decays quickly, then it is most important to strive to find beneficial methods. Therefore, from the depths of the heart, even from the marrow of the bones, generate fear of the impermanence of death and repeatedly practice it. Third, the guidance on contemplating the way karma ripens: The key is to be certain that karma is infallible. Think like this: Death is real, however, just as ashes are blown away by the wind after a fire is extinguished, where is there another chance to be reborn? If you think like this, thinking that you do not need to practice the Dharma yourself, if there is really nothing after death, then there is nothing to worry about. But that is not the case, as the sutra says: The karma of sentient beings will not be lost even after hundreds of thousands of kalpas, and once the conditions are ripe, the results will eventually appear. Just as different fruits grow from different seeds, the root of happiness and suffering is good and bad karma. Therefore, those who desire liberation must correctly take and abandon. As the great teacher said: What is the use of the sins that cause suffering in countless lives, even if they bring happiness in this life? This life is short, only a few years and months, but the next life cannot be measured. In order not to suffer in the next life, one should take and abandon good and evil as a way to obtain happiness. Thus it is said. There are four points: the distinction between good and non-good, the boundary, the weight, and the result. First, the distinction: Good deeds, according to what is to be accomplished and how it is accomplished, there are ten types: saving the lives of sentient beings, giving alms without attachment, abiding in celibacy, these are the three actions of the body; speaking truthfully, speaking gently and pleasantly, reconciling discord, praising the virtues of others, these are the four actions of speech; being content with little, loving others, believing in karma,

These are the three actions of mind. Furthermore, depending on how to learn the precepts, there are also ten. From the Madhyāntavibhāga-bhāṣya: Writing letters, making offerings, giving, listening, reading, and holding, Explaining, reciting, thinking about it, and meditating, The nature of these ten practices is an immeasurable accumulation of merit. Thus it is said. Depending on the method of entrusting the common tantra, there are the ten perfections such as generosity. Such virtues, even the smallest ones, should not be despised but accepted, for by accumulating small things, one will eventually become great, just as a water droplet gradually fills a vase. As it is said in the Compendium: Just as a water droplet gradually fills a vase from beginning to end, little by little, so too, the initial mind is the cause of enlightenment, and gradually perfecting the white qualities, one will become a Buddha. Thus it is said. Similarly, from the perspective of abandoning what is unfavorable to virtue, non-virtue is: from the perspective of the agent, there are ten divisions of body, speech, and mind, namely: intentionally and without error killing sentient beings; taking what is not given by stealing or robbing the wealth of others; engaging in sexual misconduct with inappropriate partners, which is sexual misconduct, these are the three actions of body. Lying by reversing the notion of truth; harsh words that cause others to hate; divisive words that separate the friendship of others; all words that are not these three and are afflicted with disturbing emotions are idle chatter, these are the four actions of speech. Greed, thinking that even if others do not have wealth, it would be good if I had it; harmful intent of hating others; wrong views such as seeing that virtuous and non-virtuous actions do not exist even conventionally, these are the three actions of mind. Furthermore, with respect to the object, there are the five inexpiable sins and the five nearly inexpiable sins, namely: killing one's father, mother, and arhat; causing dissension in the sangha; drawing blood from the body of the Tathagata with malicious intent, these are the five inexpiable sins. Destroying stupas; killing bodhisattvas; causing an arhat nun to regress; killing a student; robbing the property of the sangha, these are the five nearly inexpiable sins. Furthermore, with respect to both the object and the action, there are the twelve transgressions including the four heavy ones and their reversals, among which the four heavy ones are: being above the rank of the wise; the offerings to monks; the food of practitioners; the wealth of mantra practitioners, these are called the four reversed heavy ones.
