In the center of ____, please protect so-and-so. On the six petals, write one syllable of Om Mani Padme Hum (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओ मणि पद्मे हूँ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om, Mani, Padme, Hum) each. By reciting the six-syllable mantra as much as possible, bless it, and tie it around the neck of the person to be protected, thereby protecting against all illnesses, evil spirits, and obstacles. The inner protection is: In the heart, visualize oneself clearly as the deity, and in the center of the six-petaled wheel residing on the sun disc, write Hrih (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hrih). Write the six syllables on the six petals and recite them. The secret protection is: In the inner Dharma nature wheel, without effort or striving, abide in equanimity. The object to be protected and the protector are liberated into non-duality. The symbolic protection is: Whatever harms arise in one's own mind, they arise and dissolve on their own. The representative protection is: Tie the aforementioned wheel and white thread with six vajra knots, and without reciting the six-syllable mantra, tie it on oneself or others. Sixth, concerning the removal of illness. The outer removal of illness: Visualize the fontanelle at the crown of the head being opened, and the essence of the illness transforming into bluish-red vapor, rising up in wisps, thereby removing the hot diseases of the upper body. The stomach presses against the back, and with belching sounds from the mouth, expel it, thereby removing diseases of the stomach and liver, like vomiting. Open the anus, combine with a purgative, visualize all diseases transforming into yellowish filth and being expelled, and at the same time, release air downwards, thereby removing all diseases of the lower body, like a laxative. Release the awareness, clearly, loosely, and scattered, thereby removing all wind diseases, like medicinal oil. In the place where it hurts, concentrate and tighten the awareness to a single point, press and hold it with the hand, thereby removing all throbbing pains, this is a key instruction like bloodletting. The inner removal of illness is: The five poisons are diseases of the mind, therefore, whatever afflictions or thoughts arise, let them arise and dissolve simultaneously, and release them freely. The secret removal of illness is: The root of the chronic disease of samsara is ignorance, therefore, when awareness arises clearly and without clinging, samsara is purified from the very beginning, and suffering arises as great bliss. The ultimate removal of illness is: This disease of dualistic grasping, of self and other, should be eliminated with the equal, unbiased, unfabricated, equal, vast Dharma nature. The symbolic removal of illness is: The root of the arising of illness and suffering is self-grasping, therefore, by examining the self, the self is not established. If the self is not established, then the other is not established. Since neither self nor other is established, the awareness without grasping is liberated in its own place, thereby eliminating the illness.

To remove illness through symbolism: When someone is ill, the first thing to do is to treat them with medicine, diet, behavior modification, or exorcism, whatever is necessary according to the condition. Third general point, the six practices that benefit the deceased: 1. Corpse bathing, 2. Vase offering, 3. Cremation, 4. Purification of the name plaque, 5. Placing in a tomb, 6. Offering corpse food. Among these, the first, corpse bathing, and the second, vase offering, are each explained in separate sections in the "Kadampa Treasure," but in practice, corpse bathing does not occur before the vase offering. Has corpse bathing been omitted? Or is it considered that corpse bathing and vase offering have the same meaning? This needs further investigation. However, could it be that corpse bathing and vase offering are made into separate sections but combined into one meaning in practice? Second, regarding vase offering: Outer vase offering: Place the vase on a white mandala that has been blessed with mantras, arrange offerings, meditate on oneself as Avalokiteśvara, and also generate the deity in the vase, make offerings and praises, recite the six-syllable mantra, and perform the expansion and contraction of the mantra. Inner vase offering: Invite the consciousness of the deceased to the front, separate it from the executioner, and perform bathing. Secret vase offering: Bathe the bones, clothes, or name of the deceased, and contemplate that sins and obscurations are purified. Meaning vase offering: Contemplate that through the blessing of mantras, karma, afflictions, and the two obscurations are purified, and the true meaning is realized. Symbolic vase offering: Close the door of consciousness being reborn in the six realms, and it will abide in enlightenment. Symbolic vase offering: Practice the deity and mantra, purify the place of the deceased, and perfect the merits of the corpse owner (lord of the corpse). Third, regarding cremation: Outer cremation: Wash the corpse and wrap it in white cloth, and place one seed syllable of the six-syllable mantra each on the crown, forehead, throat, heart, navel, and genitals to cut off the door of rebirth, put it in a wooden coffin and light the fire. Inner cremation: Generate Avalokiteśvara in the heart of the corpse, and contemplate that the fuel for burning the corpse, firewood, etc., are offered to the body, speech, and mind of Avalokiteśvara with the six-syllable mantra. Secret cremation: Generate Avalokiteśvara in the fire, contemplate that the corpse melts into nectar, offer it to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, make them happy and satisfied, and thus all the sins and obscurations of the deceased are purified. Meaning cremation: Purify the sins and obscurations of the deceased, and the consciousness abides in the Dharmadhatu, so there is no more rebirth.
