Without clinging to any appearance or grasping mind, that itself is the meaning of purification. Therefore, whatever arises, one should remain in a state free from conceptual thought. Sixth, meditating on the protection wheel: There are six categories. Beneath the ground where one is, visualize a nine-pointed vajra crosswise, with its tips standing upright. Above, visualize a vajra tent with the tips of the cross hanging down. All directions intersect, like a net, and in the gaps are many wrathful deities performing the action of averting, facing outwards, and many wrathful deities performing the action of protecting, facing inwards. This is the protection wheel of the body. Outside of that, visualize a tent of weapons such as vajra swords, curved knives, cleavers, khatvangas, stakes, arrows, spears, etc., with their points facing outwards, and outside of that, a mountain of fire burning fiercely like a whirlwind. Also, visualize the sound of "Hūṃ" (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hūṃ) and "Phaṭ" (Tibetan: ཕཊ, Sanskrit Devanagari: फट, Sanskrit Romanization: phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: Phaṭ) emanating from the mouths of the wrathful deities, like the sound of a thousand thunders, as the sound of mantras. This is the protection wheel of speech. The vajra tent Cannot be destroyed by any cause, possessing the seven qualities of vajra, namely: unbreakable, indestructible, true, firm, stable, unobstructed in all directions outwards, and impenetrable by anything inwards, contemplating the meaning of being unconquerable. This is the protection wheel of the mind. Inside the tent, visualize either spheres of five-colored light, tiny spheres, or a precious palace, or a lotus tent, whichever you prefer. This is the protection wheel of qualities. Outside of all of these is a tent of the fire of the end of an eon. Outside of that is a tent of wind razors that cut upon contact. Outside of that is a tent of water. These are the protection wheels of the nature and activity of the elements. Thus, the protection wheels visualized in the mind, and the harmful enemies, demons, etc., are not established in the nature of ultimate truth, but what appears in conventional truth is also the unceasing nature, the self-appearance of wisdom, free from existence, non-existence, permanence, and annihilation. Knowing it to be like an illusion, remain in that state. This is the protection wheel of ultimate wisdom. Summary of the actual practice: Generating the support, inviting the wisdom being, bestowing empowerment to increase power, prostrations, offerings, and praises, prayers and requests, receiving empowerment, reciting mantras, subsequent gathering, and the eleven sections of the completion stage are the essence of the actual practice. Thus, the first of the eleven sections.

In generating the support for supplication, in the center of the vast protective tent, remember the meaning of your own body being complete with the deity, seat, and three aspects. The so-called seat is because the essence of the Sugata-womb, the mind of enlightenment, abides in the manner of relying on the support of the illusory body, hence it is called the seat. The so-called three aspects are the seat of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the seat of the Vidyadharas and Goddesses, and the seat of the Wrathful Deities and Wrathful Mothers. My five aggregates, such as form, are the five Buddhas. The eight consciousnesses, such as eye consciousness, are the eight Bodhisattvas, which are the seats of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The five elements, such as earth, are the five Mothers. The eight objects, such as form, are the eight Vidyadharis, which are the seats of the Vidyadharas and Goddesses. The ten major joints are the ten Wrathful Deities. The ten objects are the ten Wrathful Mothers, which are the seats of the Wrathful Deities and Wrathful Mothers. Thus, it is said that it is not necessary to meditate on a deity with body color, hand gestures, etc., but merely to have faith that all aggregates, elements, and sources have originally abided in the nature of the deity. Having such faith, on the crown of the head or in the space in front, visualize as you wish a lotus tree with hundreds of thousands of petals emerging from the vast, blue, and clear ocean of nectar, with abundant branches, leaves, and fruits, and prominent stamens. On top of it is a sun disc, and on top of that is a moon cushion, on which abides Guru Padmasambhava, the embodiment of all Buddhas of the three times, with a white and reddish complexion, a peaceful smile, and a slightly wrathful expression. The right hand holds a five-pronged golden vajra at the heart, and the left hand holds a skull cup filled with nectar on the lap, with a three-pointed khatvanga resting on the elbow. The head is adorned with a lotus-petal-shaped She'u hat, decorated with a five-pronged vajra and a small tuft of peacock feathers at the top, and adorned with a mirror, golden sun and moon, and a silk diadem. The body is adorned with a red Dharma robe with golden patterns, in accordance with the Sutras, and a blue robe and secret garment in accordance with the Mantras, and a deep blue cloak with golden "ha" characters, in accordance with the Chakravartin. Seated in the vajra posture, each part of the body is so perfect that even if observed for countless eons, one would not be satisfied, and the splendor of the excellent marks and signs is like the rising sun.
