Falling into Hell: Bound by the misdeeds of the five poisons and attachment to the eight worldly dharmas, helplessly falling into the depths of hell for the sake of food and clothing. Constantly tormented by the four maras, unable to remember the Dharma. Regarding the appearances of this life as real, and impermanence as eternal, developing wrong views, slander, and procrastination towards the sacred Dharma, and engaging in good and evil in a reversed manner. Unable to be liberated from the three lower realms and the six realms of samsara, this is the suffering of samsara. Impermanence and change are the suffering of samsara. Suffering torment and being without protection or refuge is the suffering of samsara. Having to experience it alone is the suffering of samsara. The benefits of supreme liberation: Through realizing the equality of self and others, there is no distinction between enemies and friends. Through realizing the inseparability of samsara and nirvana, the precepts are pure. Through realizing appearances as one's own mind, the mind of bodhichitta arises. Through realizing the non-duality of appearance and emptiness, attachment, aversion, and bias disappear. Through realizing non-action and non-speaking, the boundaries of samsara and nirvana dissolve. Through realizing self-liberation of one's own nature, gaining a firm foothold in great bliss. This is the explanation of the supreme benefits of definitive liberation, which is the fourth part. The second general meaning, explaining the special preliminaries, has five stages: taking refuge, generating the supreme bodhichitta, the practice and recitation of Vajrasattva, offering the mandala, and practicing Guru Yoga. First, regarding taking refuge, there are two types: refuge of the cause and refuge of the result. Refuge of the cause refers to striving to perform the ritual of taking refuge. Refuge of the result refers to the object of refuge and the guide who leads to refuge, through recognizing one's own nature by oneself. Realizing that the Three Jewels and one's own mind are inseparable, this is the refuge of the result, which is extremely important. Regarding the objects of refuge: outwardly, it is the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha; inwardly, it is the Guru, Yidam, and Dakini; secretly, it is the Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya; ultimately, it is the nature of essence, nature, and compassion, spontaneously accomplished as one. First, it is the basis for the manifestation of both samsara and nirvana. Now, taking refuge in a way that samsara and nirvana are inseparable, thereby spontaneously accomplishing Buddhahood, on the primordial basis.

To the gathering of Vidyadharas, taking refuge in the thought of possessing two purities: Om Ah Hum! (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ āḥ hūṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om Ah Hum)! The essence of all refuges in samsara and nirvana, equal to space; Powerful Vidyadhara, Padmakarodhrisal; In your form, the mandala of the victorious ones of appearance and existence is complete; To liberate all beings from samsara, we take refuge; The boundless, vast Dharmakaya, the space of Vajra; The essence, nature, and compassion are of one taste; All realms of samsara and nirvana are in the state of rainbow body Vajra; In the unchanging, clear expanse of awareness, we take refuge. Having thus taken refuge, we turn away from the refuges of the impure-appearing world. May we never be separated from the authentic Dharma nature, the noble Three Jewels of Nirvana, and may we abide correctly in all the precepts of refuge. Secondly, generating the supreme Bodhicitta: Wishing that all sentient beings, equal to the sky, and myself together, may attain the state of perfect Buddhahood, and by engaging, recognizing that the very essence of the mind that wishes is the heart of the Bodhicitta, where self and other are inseparable. Abiding in the state of inseparability of aspiration and action, like the sky, is the authentic Bodhicitta. Thus, the ritual of generating the mind: Visualize the witness of generating the mind as clearly as in the case of taking refuge. On the basis of the secret, supreme, clear light, the essence of wisdom, May all beings be purified of the three obscurations, and may the bindus of body, speech, and mind, spontaneously accomplish the state of the four visions, and be liberated into the youthful vase body. The seven branches are: I prostrate to the unmade, natural, innate nature-awareness; I offer vast, boundless, clear light; I confess in the realm of equality of samsara and nirvana; I rejoice in the great, beyond mind, beyond Dharma; Turn the wheel of Dharma of the spontaneously accomplished Great Perfection; I pray to completely uproot samsara; I dedicate the three wheels, free from conceptual extremes, to the other shore. This is said as a supplement to the concluding ritual of generating the mind. Thirdly, for the sake of quickly purifying sins and obscurations, the meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva: On the crown of the head of myself, as the main one, and all sentient beings of the six realms of the three worlds. From Pam (Tibetan: པཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: paṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Pam) arises a lotus, from A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: ā, Literal Chinese Meaning: A) arises a moon, and from Ma (Tibetan: མ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: ma, Literal Chinese Meaning: Ma) arises a sun mandala. From the essence of self-awareness, the clear A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: ā, Literal Chinese Meaning: A) radiates light.
