Pala, if one is only engaged in giving, then some who have a great mind of generosity, seeing him, will rejoice thinking, "I am engaged in great giving, and this person is also giving," and thus it becomes common. Even if a lowly miser sees it, he will think, "I am a miser, but it is very strange that he gives like this," and thus it also becomes common, because he likes giving. When he sees others giving, he will start giving, and will continue to give in the future. Thus, all who rejoice in this way, all roots of virtue will become common. Similarly, from discipline to the six perfections, they are also divided into high, low, and medium, and all that has been done, encouraged to be done, and rejoiced in, become his retinue. Because quarrels and idle talk may occur, gods, nagas, yakshas, etc., will certainly bring benefit. For example, just as a servant involuntarily becomes a close attendant, that is the reason. The precious Lord of the World said that, in general, to achieve unsurpassed enlightenment, it is very important to have both view and conduct. However, here in Tibet, those with high views have inconsistent conduct, and those with pure conduct lack view. Because they think that view, meditation, and conduct are all different. Regarding view, there are two ways: one is to seek view from the perspective of meditation, and the other is to seek meditation from the perspective of view. However, the Lord of the World, Phagmo Drupa, does not approve of these. The view of realization is the suchness of one's own mind. Others mainly focus on the nature of phenomena, which is not the father language of this lineage. Mind itself is the unique father language of this lineage. Therefore, realizing the mind is the view, and not being distracted from it is meditation, so view and meditation become one. Conduct means acting in accordance with that view. Although everyone has some view, conduct is as precious as an elephant. Therefore, one must be free from the two extremes. This itself is the twelve qualities of the asceticism of the Buddha. Therefore, one must also live in a secluded place away from the hustle and bustle.
