Regarding the practice of the Buddha's teachings, the Hinayana schools argue that there is no benefit in it because the Buddha did not teach it, and they prevent it by explaining that the three trainings are without inherent existence. Therefore, they do not pay attention to the Vinaya, do not enter the Sutras, and contradict the nature of the Dharma in the Abhidharma. Therefore, they say that in order to deceive all sentient beings in the methods of attaining heaven and liberation, it was done by demons, evil people, and Buddhist philosophers such as Nagarjuna, and non-Buddhist philosophers, because they teach that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana do not exist. To refute this, first briefly state three points: this Dharma is not as flawed as they say, because all the Buddhas of the past have not prophesied it; it arose simultaneously with the Hinayana; it is not the domain of philosophers; if one can know all that is to be known, one will become a Buddha; if the Mahayana exists, then these sutras and tantras are authoritative; if it does not exist, then the Buddhas arising from it do not exist, therefore the Hinayana also does not exist; practicing it generates wisdom and acts as an antidote to obscurations, and if they say it does not, then they are distorting the Buddha's teachings. Furthermore, it cannot be proven that it did not arise simultaneously through words such as 'the wheel of Dharma constantly turns' and 'vast,' because at that time, although the Mahayana was taught to those with the Bodhisattva lineage, the Shravakas did not have the fortune to hear it due to their dull faculties and meager merit. Just as when the Avatamsaka Sutra was taught in Shravasti, not a single Shravaka could comprehend it. Shravakas like Mahakashyapa are Shravakas who will transform into Bodhisattvas and great Bodhi, so they are able to hear it. In those places mentioned in the sutras, not all places are gathered together; in the eastern part of India, in the place of the Naga king Shravasti, where the pool flows slowly, the sutra predicting the results of karma was taught, and the Four Great Kings were placed in the position of realizing the truth. In the southern city of India, the Naga king Black Naga and Gautama, who came from the ocean with a thousand attendants, taught the Dharma. They went to the north and south of the five Indias, and then went to the Hot Sea to teach the Dharma. Then they went to Li country, sat on Elephant Head Mountain, and there prophesied that the teachings of a thousand Buddhas would appear. They taught the Dharma at the place where the gods descended. The Mahayana taught the Dharma in places such as Potala and Lanka, and taught the Ten Bhumi Sutra and the Samantamukha Parivarta Sutra in Paranirmita-vasavartin. And the Manjushri Root Tantra, etc. Regarding the practice of the Buddha's teachings, the Hinayana schools argue that there is no benefit in it because the Buddha did not teach it, and they prevent it by explaining that the three trainings are without inherent existence.
