The distinction is that of being called a 'Bodhisattva'. The third, the superior intention, is 'on all grounds'. The fourth, the complete holding, is 'on all grounds'. The fifth, the distinction of birth, is 'of those with intelligence'. The sixth, the distinction of abiding and ground, is indicated briefly by 'characteristic', and the explanation of the characteristic is 'emptiness is'. The second explanation of 'Pudgala' (Sanskrit: Pudgala, meaning individual, person) is 'Bodhisattva with pure view'. The third explanation of 'discipline' is 'thoroughly understanding the nature of reality'. The fourth explanation of 'aggregate' is 'thoroughly understanding the nature of reality'. The fifth explanation of 'accomplishment' is 'all grounds'. The sixth explanation of 'signs obtained from characteristics' is 'together with appearance'. The sign of obtaining the six perfections is 'not without intention'. The explanation of the benefits of the ground is 'on all grounds'. The seventh explanation of 'definition' is 'for enlightenment', the general definition being 'immeasurable elements', that is, Sanskrit 'Bhūmi' (Tibetan: ས་, ground), 'Bhūta' (Tibetan: འབྱུང་པོ་, element), 'Amita' (Tibetan: དཔག་མེད་, immeasurable), 'Abhaya' (Tibetan: འཇིགས་མེད་, fearless), and again 'Amita' (Tibetan: དཔག་མེད་, immeasurable), 'Bhūyana' (Tibetan: ཕྱི་ཕྱིར་མི་གྷ་མ་ན་མ་གོང་དུ་འགྲོ་བ་, going higher and higher), meaning immeasurable elements make fearless, and realization goes higher and higher. The eighth explanation of 'obtaining' is 'obtaining the ground is'. 'Sentient beings, the Great Vehicle' refers to summarizing all that has been said before into four practices. From the explanation of the complete cause of all these, to the third ultimate Great Vehicle accomplishment practice, which is the explanation of the Buddha ground itself, first praised with the four immeasurables, that is, 'loving sentient beings'. The second is praised with liberation and exhaustion overcoming, that is, 'the able one destroys all obscurations'. The third is praised with no afflictions, that is, 'sentient beings are'. The fourth is praised with knowing from aspiration, that is, 'spontaneously accomplished and'. The fifth is praised with the four analytical knowledges, that is, 'the support and the supported'. The sixth is praised with superknowledge, that is, 'having passed away'. The seventh is praised with marks and signs, that is, 'with a body'. The eighth is praised with complete purity, that is, 'taking and abiding and'. The ninth is praised with the ten powers, that is, 'skillful means and refuge and'. The tenth is praised with the four fearlessnesses, that is, 'for the benefit of self and others'. The eleventh is praised through the gate of no protection and the four mindfulnesses, that is, 'without protection'. The twelfth is praised through the gate of destroying habitual tendencies, that is, 'omniscient one, to you'. The thirteenth is praised with no forgetfulness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The thirteenth praise is praising all sentient beings, meaning 'all beings'. The fourteenth praise is praising great compassion, meaning 'the world'. The fifteenth praise is praising the Buddha's unique Dharma, meaning 'conduct and'. The sixteenth praise is praising the omniscient, meaning 'the three bodies'. The seventeenth praise is praising the perfection of the six perfections, meaning 'without grasping'. The eighteenth praise is praising from the perspective of the Buddha's nature, meaning 'the ultimate truth'. The twenty-second chapter is the ultimate chapter. The method of understanding this treatise through the three practices of hearing, thinking, and meditating is: establish that the Mahayana is the Buddha's teaching, awaken the lineage through the Mahayana refuge, and then generate Bodhicitta. In this way, using the twenty-two chapters as the framework of the path, understand the chapters scattered on the five paths directly and truthfully according to its boundaries. Regarding the objects of view, such as the two truths, the four truths, the three natures, the five bases, and the practices, such as the six perfections, the ten perfections, etc., many contents that cannot be placed within the same boundary should be understood in a way common to the five paths, as appropriate. The path of no more learning is the Bodhi chapter and the ultimate chapter. The meaning of the words should be explained according to the commentaries and Indian treatises, but there seem to be many errors in the Tibetan parts. In particular, the Ngok tradition's commentary and chapter divisions seem to be inconsistent with the commentaries. The Ornament of the Mahayana Sutras, Concise and meaningful, well-spoken meaning, Sindhartha is well established, May I receive the blessings of Maitreya. The Sindhartha of the Ornament of the Mahayana Sutras, completed by the learned Bhikshu Bhagavan Raksha at the auspicious Narthang Monastery. Auspicious and complete! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
