That is to say, after obtaining the fruit of one lifetime in the desire realm, one enters into tranquility in the next life. This is because, in that life, obtaining the non-returner fruit is separated by one affliction, and obtaining the Arhat fruit is separated by one lifetime, so it is said to be a single separation. The eighth type of desire realm affliction, even if it has not been eliminated, will not become an obstacle to obtaining the non-returner fruit in that life, because it can be eliminated in this life. The ninth type of affliction will hinder such a person from obtaining the non-returner fruit in that life, because eliminating it will transcend the desire realm, and transcending the desire realm is extremely difficult. Therefore, even if such a person has not eliminated the eighth type of affliction, it is called being separated by a definite form, and obtaining the non-returner fruit. Third, the differences of the non-returner fruit are divided into two types: the main body and the incidental. Among them, the main body is divided into three types: proceeding to the form realm, proceeding to the formless realm, and extinguishing in the present life. The definition of the first type is: the non-returner who has the support of the desire realm, who takes birth in the form realm or the intermediate state of the form realm. If classified, there are five types. The first type, entering extinction in the intermediate state: the non-returner who proceeds to the form realm, has eliminated the sleep that can accomplish the existence of the form realm, but has not eliminated the sleep that can accomplish the existence of the intermediate state, so he enters extinction in the intermediate state. This is further divided into three types: entering extinction in the upper, middle, and lower stages of the intermediate state, due to the differences in the sharpness, medium, and dullness of the faculties. The second type, entering extinction after birth: the non-returner who has the support of not eliminating the sleep that can accomplish the existence of the form realm, enters into tranquility as soon as he is born in any place in the form realm. The third type, entering extinction without effort: such a person, after being born in any place in the form realm, realizes the path without diligent effort and enters into tranquility. The fourth type, entering extinction with effort: such a person, after being born in any place in the form realm, realizes the path through diligent effort and enters into tranquility. The fifth type, ascending upwards: the one who proceeds to the form realm, who has the karma of experiencing different ripening fruits many times, realizes Nirvana in any place in Akanistha or the peak of existence. If classified, there are the

There are two types of going to the ultimate end: going to the ultimate end of Akanistha and going to the ultimate end of the Peak of Existence. The first is the superior rebirth who, having cultivated the fourth dhyana repeatedly, manifests nirvana in Akanistha. There are three divisions: swift, half-swift, and dying and transmigrating in all places, according to the differences in faculties of keen, middling, and dull. The Akanistha-bound being who, in the next life, is born in the Brahma host and in the second life manifests nirvana in Akanistha; that being who, in the next life, is born in the Brahma host and in the second life in any of the lower Pure Abodes, and in the third life is born in Akanistha and manifests nirvana; that being who, except for the Great Brahma, gradually passes through all other form realms and finally manifests nirvana in Akanistha. The second, going to the ultimate end of the Peak of Existence, is that which, except for the Great Brahma and the Pure Abodes, gradually passes through all other form and formless realms and finally manifests nirvana at the Peak of Existence. The second, approaching the Formless Realm, is the non-returner who, because of attachment to form and having a basis of desire, manifests nirvana on the basis of the Formless Realm. There are four divisions: superior rebirth, having been born, with manifest activity, and without manifest activity. Because there is no intermediate existence in being born in the Formless Realm, there is no passing into sorrow in the intermediate state. The first is the one approaching the Formless Realm who gradually passes through the four Formless Realms and manifests nirvana on the basis of the Peak of Existence. Because this is primarily practicing calm abiding, there is no distinction between swift, half-swift, and so on. The second is that which manifests nirvana as soon as it is born in any of the four Formless Realms. The third is that which, having been born in any of the four Formless Realms, cultivates the path with effort and manifests nirvana. The fourth is that which, having been born in any of the four Formless Realms, cultivates the path without effort and manifests nirvana. The third is visible-dhamma-nirvana, the non-returner who, at the time of attaining the noble path, manifests nirvana in that very moment. In this text, approaching the Formless Realm and visible-dhamma-nirvana are not mentioned, and even for superior rebirth, only the two types of going to the ultimate end of Akanistha and the Peak of Existence are distinguished, without making the three divisions of swift.
