It is separated from the effort of abandonment. By whatever path, the abandonment itself, abandoned by the unobstructed path, makes it completely pure and particularly excellent. Furthermore, for each object to be abandoned, there are four remedies: complete refutation, abandonment, basis, and maintaining stability. First, observe the faults of the object to be abandoned; second, destroy the power of the object to be abandoned; third, merely perform the act of holding the attainment of liberation where the object to be abandoned has ceased; finally, in order to prevent the previous abandonment from recurring, cultivate other remedies. Furthermore, the divisions of the path are eleven, such as complete understanding of objects. First, the path of complete understanding of objects is mindfulness, the definition of which is: as a remedy for perversion, mindfulness and wisdom, along with their associated factors, that discern the four—body, feeling, mind, and phenomena—from the perspective of both their general and specific characteristics. The divisions are: the four mindfulnesses of body, feeling, mind, and phenomena. In order, they are: as a remedy for holding the body as pure, for the inner and outer body, in terms of the general characteristic, it is selflessness; in terms of the specific characteristic, it is the mindfulness and wisdom that individually discern it as impure, and so on; as a remedy for holding feeling as pleasure, all inner and outer feelings are individually discerned as suffering, and so on; as a remedy for holding the mind as permanent, all inner and outer minds are individually discerned as momentary, and so on; as a remedy for holding phenomena as self, all inner and outer phenomena are individually discerned as selfless, and so on. Second, the path arising from diligent effort is right exertion, the definition of which is: after obtaining mindfulness, the diligence and its associated factors that strive to adopt what should be adopted and abandon what should be abandoned in relation to what should be abandoned and the remedy. The divisions are: preventing unfavorable factors that have not arisen from arising, causing those that have arisen to diminish, causing favorable factors that have not arisen to arise, and causing those that have arisen to not diminish and to increase; these four, and the definitions are also easy to understand. Third, the path of completely training in samadhi is the basis of miraculous abilities, the definition of which is: after obtaining right exertion, the one-pointedness of mind and its associated factors that make the mind workable on the object of focus. The divisions are: the four samadhis of aspiration, effort, mind, and investigation. Obtaining right exertion

Below, the samadhi obtained through the power of respectful practice, the one obtained through the power of constant practice, the one obtained through the power of familiarity from previous lives, and the samadhi obtained in this life through the power of thoroughly discriminating the Dharma. These three categories are meditated upon in the stages of the small, medium, and large accumulations in the Order of Accumulation. Fourth, the path associated with Abhisamaya is the faculty (indriya). Its characteristic is: the pure faculty of liberation that has power over the direct realization of truth, which is mainly meditated upon during the stages of heat and peak. Its divisions are faith, diligence, mindfulness, samadhi, and wisdom, which are characterized by believing in the aspects of truth, joy, not forgetting, one-pointedness, and individually discriminating. Fifth, the path related to Abhisamaya is the powers (bala). Its characteristic is: the pure faculty of liberation that is not overwhelmed by opposing factors, which is mainly meditated upon during the stages of forbearance and supreme. Its divisions are like the faculties. Sixth, the path of Abhisamaya is the limbs of enlightenment (bodhyanga). Its characteristic is: the correct realization of the nature of truth as it is, which is included in the path of seeing. Its divisions are seven, among which, right mindfulness as a limb of enlightenment is: meditating on the object and aspects of truth in a way that does not forget, which becomes a limb that is the basis for other limbs. Discrimination of Dharma is: meditating on the nature of truth in a way that thoroughly discriminates, which is a limb of the nature of the path of seeing enlightenment. Diligence is: meditating on the aspects of truth in a way that rejoices, which is a limb that will definitely lead to the ultimate goal to be reached. Joy is: the uncontaminated bliss that makes the mind joyful by newly realizing the nature of truth that was not previously realized, which is a limb of benefit. Tranquility is: the uncontaminated tranquility that makes body and mind serviceable, which is a limb that is not contaminated by any afflictions. Samadhi is: the uncontaminated one-pointedness of mind that meditates on the aspects of truth in a way that is one-pointed, which is a limb that is not contaminated by any afflictions. Equanimity is: meditating on the aspects of truth in a way that is without unevenness such as sinking or excitement, which is not
