Ground refers to non-retrogression from perfect enlightenment. Non-retrogression is also of two types: non-retrogression by the power of lineage and non-retrogression by the power of realization. The first is the certainty of non-retrogression from perfect enlightenment from the path of accumulation, such as some lineages of extremely sharp faculties like Manjushri. The second is obtaining forbearance of the unborn dharma, which is also divided into three by the distinction of small, medium, and great forbearance, and these are also, in order, the nature of the paths of joining, seeing, and meditation. As it is said in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "From the part of ascertainment, on the paths of seeing and familiarization, whatever Bodhisattvas abide, here is the assembly of non-retrogression." Others say that in those stages, non-retrogression is obtained by the sharp, medium, and dull faculties. Abiding in uncertainty is understood by implication. Faculty is sharp in relation to the latter two (medium and dull faculties). Otherwise, in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "Perfect enlightenment is sharp, easy to realize, dull ones are said to be difficult to realize." Because in itself, the sharpness and dullness of faculties are also explained. Aspiration is bodhicitta, and its nature is said in itself: "Bodhicitta is for the sake of others, desiring perfect enlightenment." If divided, there are two types: aspirational and engaging bodhicitta. The first is characterized by wanting to obtain the result, and the second is characterized by learning the path through the six perfections for that purpose. As it is said in Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Deeds: "Among them, the first is the protector, who correctly explains the manner of aspiration, the second is giving and so forth, which fully proclaims the manner of entering." The others are easy to understand. Maturing beings is of two types: making the continuum suitable as a vessel for the path of liberation, and making it suitable as a vessel for the Great Vehicle. The first is as it is said in the Ornament for the Sutras: "Just as for wounds and food, making them suitable for cleaning and using, like wanting to mature, similarly, wanting to pacify the two aspects in this basis, similarly, wanting to mature into the very use." Like making the continuum suitable for abandoning what should be abandoned and suitable for generating antidotes, and the second

In the Treatise on the Jewel Lineage, it says, "Entering the path of peace in the world, the form of complete maturation and prophecy, whatever it may be, is always present here, like the realm of form in the realm of space." As it says, transforming the mind that delights in peace, making it suitable as a vessel for generating the Mahayana Bodhicitta. Purifying the Buddha-field means that after one is certain to attain Buddhahood, one prays that the world of beings and environments in which one will attain Buddhahood in the future will become pure as one wishes, and accumulates merit for that purpose. Receiving prophecy is synonymous with obtaining the tolerance of non-arising dharma on the eighth bhumi, because at that time one will receive prophecy. Furthermore, in the Ornament of the Sutras, it says, "Depending on the difference of beings and time, the wise have two kinds of prophecy, namely, Bodhi and prophecy, and in addition, what is called great is the attainment of the tolerance of non-arising." It also says, "The great prophecy is that the Buddha-field and name, as well as the names of time and kalpa, the retinue and the sacred Dharma, are also desired to be abandoned from the door of abiding." As it says. The third section, well distinguished by approximation, has three parts: connecting to the path of accumulation, connecting to the path of preparation, and not losing the root of these small and medium ones. First, in relation to the latter, a being who has not accumulated merit is one who focuses on the dharmas that show the four truths, and believes and understands them as they are, having little faith and desire, that is, a small share of liberation, and generating the path of preparation, having an uncertain number of lifetimes. In relation to the former, one who has accumulated merit, but in relation to the latter, one who has not accumulated merit, is a being with medium faith and desire, that is, a medium share of liberation, and generating the path of preparation, having a definite number of lifetimes. In relation to the former two, one who has accumulated merit is one who has great faith and desire, that is, a large share of liberation, and in that lifetime, having a definite time to generate the path of preparation. Second, the three tolerances of definitely thinking about the Dharma are measured by the power of meditation arising from the aspect of truth, namely, small decisiveness, medium warmth, and great peak, the tolerance of generating the direct realization of truth, having a definite number of lifetimes.
