These ten should not be completely abandoned. What are the ten? Like this, residing in a monastery, and so on. The second is the explanation: Because of delighting in solitude, always residing in a monastery one yojana away from the village; having no desire for obtaining robes and other things, therefore being content with little; not seeking more or better things than what is obtained, therefore being content; begging for alms as an antidote to attachment to food; single seat; not accepting food given afterwards, these three. As an antidote to attachment to dwelling, residing in a monastery; residing under a tree; having no roof; residing in a cemetery, these four. As an antidote to attachment to clothing, possessing three Dharma robes; using a worn-out duster; wearing a felt robe. As an antidote to attachment to bedding, squatting and remaining as is, these two, totaling twelve qualities of practice, upholding the precepts, not abandoning them even for the sake of life and reverence, etc. As it is said in the *Extensive Play Sutra*: "Always beautiful forms and pleasant sounds, fragrant smells, excellent tastes, comfortable touches, these obstruct beings going on the evil path, like feathers caught in a hunter's trap. The qualities of desire have much suffering and harm, are full of fear, always create enemies, are accompanied by afflictions, like the sharp edge of a sword, like the leaves of a poisonous tree, like a container filled with vomit, abandoned by noble beings." As it is said, because of seeing the faults of desire, they are rebuked, and in order to accord with the capacity of the beings to be tamed, they incline towards nirvana, completely abandoning all internal and external things, not being discouraged or intimidated in doing good, not looking at all things with attachment, this is called the fourth ground, which is completely practiced in ten ways. Why is it called "Radiant"? Like this: The Dharma that is conducive to enlightenment, is like a burning flame, because it possesses these, therefore this ground, burns the two obscurations and has light. Just like burning the firewood of the two obscurations, because it is very close to the burning flame. This is also because, like before, it is completely seized by the aspect of non-perception. The fifth ground is divided into two: First, the root is familiarity, etc., that is, these ten that are explicitly indicated as to be abandoned

The fifth ground is attained by properly relying on the ten dharmas that arise from abandoning and averting, and should be connected in this way. The second is the explanation: For the sake of gain and respect, etc., being too close and talking with renunciants and householders, etc., being stingy with gain, not showing to others the household of faith that has the same pure conduct, and noisy places where many people gather, such as villages and cities, etc., seeking veneration, praising oneself by speaking of virtues, criticizing others by speaking of faults, and the ten paths of non-virtuous actions such as killing, and boasting of listening and discipline, etc., not associating with other virtuous ones, averting from non-virtue and manifestly clinging to virtue, and evil wisdom such as wrong views, and manifestly turning towards all afflictions such as desire, abandoning and averting the ten dharmas with such characteristics, not talking with others for the sake of gain, etc., the ten aspects of completely training by meaning are called the fifth ground. Why is it called difficult to train? As it is said: "Accomplishing the maturation of all sentient beings, for the sake of protecting one's own mind, the wise are difficult to train, therefore it is called difficult to train." Thus, accomplishing the maturation of sentient beings, not making one's own mind afflicted by its inverted actions, therefore it is extremely difficult to train. That is also, like the former, attained by realizing without object of focus. Here, the paths of non-virtuous actions, etc., refer only to the seeds of the gross objects to be abandoned. The first of the two, the root and the explanation, for the sixth ground is: Giving, etc., cultivating the six dharmas to be taken, abandoning the six dharmas to be abandoned, therefore the sixth ground is correctly attained, and should be connected in this way. It is said in the sutra: "The great bodhisattva abides on the sixth ground, and should perfect the six dharmas, namely the six perfections. Furthermore, one should completely abandon the six dharmas, what six? One should completely abandon the mind of the hearers." The second is: On the sixth ground, the qualities of the perfection of wisdom, which is the chief of the six perfections, are attained in complete purity, therefore it is called the perfection of the six perfections, and among these
