Having attained (the fruit of Stream Enterer), one is freed from the root of virtue being severed; having attained forbearance, one is freed from the lower realms; having attained meditative absorption, one is freed from its branches; having become a Stream Enterer, one is freed from the eighth existence; having become a Once-Returner, one is freed from being born here once; having become a Non-Returner, one is freed from the desire realm; and an Arhat is liberated from nirvana without remainder of aggregates. Here, it refers to intentional nirvana, because at that time, the path to going to existence is cut off. The second (nirvana) is also not (the ultimate), because it is more superior in realization than that of a Hearer or Solitary Realizer. If one asks: According to the manner described above, these three are not reasonable, and a Bodhisattva who possesses the Dharma of non-regression is manifestly one who generates the first mind arising from convention. If that is so, then all sentient beings will attain nirvana and accomplish the Dharmakaya, etc., which contradicts the statement that the wisdom of a Bodhisattva, through one day's meditation, can achieve results, because those are the results of wisdom from countless eons. Answer: There is no fault. Just like the example of a lamp, the first generation of mind and the subsequent ones arise in dependence on each other, and this is also an answer. This is quoted from the 'Sunlight Sutra.' Secondly, regarding the instructions on the four truths as objects of focus, there are two aspects: the general meaning and the specific meaning. The first has four points: the individual nature of the four truths, their meaning, number, and the certainty of their order. The first has four points, of which the first is the explanation of the definition of the truth of suffering and the identification of the basis of the definition. First, actions that have become the result of karma and afflictions should be fully understood through the characteristics of impermanence, etc. In this regard, children cling to the aggregates of suffering as permanent, etc., in four inverted ways. Therefore, as an antidote to these inversions, the four characteristics of impermanence, etc., are shown as the definition of suffering. The antidote to permanence is impermanence, and the antidote to purity and happiness is one aspect of suffering, because purity and happiness enter into a pleasing aspect, while suffering is the opposite, entering into a displeasing aspect. The two antidotes to clinging to self are emptiness and selflessness. Some conceive that there is another entity of self that controls the aggregates, while most impute the aggregates themselves as self. Therefore, the antidotes to these are in order. Similarly, in the Compendium

Q: Why should we contemplate the truth of suffering with four aspects? A: To counteract the four inversions. Among them, one aspect counteracts one inversion, one aspect counteracts two inversions, and the last two aspects counteract one inversion. Thus it is said. If all four truths need to be fully understood, why is only suffering taught as something to be understood? Because the truth of suffering is the place of the four inversions, and in order to eliminate it, it must be understood from the perspective of its own and common characteristics, so it is taught as something to be fully understood. Also, in the Compendium it says: The truth of suffering is the place of the four inversions, so in order to eliminate the four inversions, it is necessary to firmly and fully understand it. Second, the ripened result of karma and afflictions, the five aggregates gathered by the sentient beings' continuum are the result of having a master, and all the container world. As it is said: What is the truth of suffering? The birth of sentient beings, and the place of birth can also be inferred. Thus it is said. The second, the origin, also has two parts, the first is: What is the formation that produces suffering? It is to be abandoned from the perspective of faults such as cause. Among them, because it is the root of the suffering of existence, it is the cause; because it produces the body and other substances, it is the origin; because it produces intensely, it is the arising; because it produces continuously, it is the condition. If suffering is also to be abandoned, why is only the origin taught as something to be abandoned? Because if the origin is not abandoned, suffering cannot be abandoned, and if the origin is abandoned, suffering does not need to be abandoned separately. Therefore, in the Compendium it says: The truth of the origin is included in the truth of suffering, even though the truth of suffering has been fully understood, it is still related to the truth of the origin, so the truth of the origin is to be abandoned. Thus it is said. The second is: Afflictions and the actions that arise from them. Afflictions are the cause of suffering, and actions are the cause, so it is said. The nature of these two should be understood from the extensive Abhidharma teachings.
