What is the first is also the second. Because the object is pure. Only the second, and not the first, is the object of grasping, just like the second. This is how it is explained. According to the teacher, the first is based on the basis of all defilements, and the second is based on the basis of purification. Therefore, these two are different in nature because their objects are mutually exclusive. This is how it is explained. The second grasping is divided into substance grasping and imputation grasping. The first of these is the grasping of a person as a substance. The basis of division is nine in number because there are nine objects. The nine objects are divided into two: from the perspective of the nature of substance and from the perspective of function. The first is the thought of the self-independent self that does not depend on others, just as "Shabu self is not found," that is, sentient beings and life, etc. The thought of the aggregates as the only incomparable self is like "Shabu form is not found" to "consciousness is not found." The thought of the sense bases as the cause of the self is that the eye is not found, and so on up to the mind. The thought of the elements as the self from the senses to the knower is that the eye and form and the appearance of the eye are not found. The second is the thought of the self as the cause of the twelve links of dependent origination, that is, dependent origination is not found. The thought of it as the cause of being free from attachment is that the first dhyana is not found, up to the samadhi of the formless realm. The thought of the truth that has not been realized before as the cause of the path of seeing is that the noble truths are not found. The thought of the nature of the truth that has already been seen and practiced as the cause of the path of meditation is that the eight liberations and the nine successive absorptions of the limits are not found. Having done something meaningful, the thought of the self as the cause of the path of no more learning, such as the powers, with the appearance of grasping in the form of refuting or establishing, is that the ten powers are not found, up to the omniscient wisdom. The second imputation grasping is the grasping of a person as an object that exists by imputation is the division

The number of quiescences is nine, because there are nine realms. The nine bases of imputation are also condensed into two: the basis for imputing the minds of the five lineages and the basis for imputing noble beings. The first is four, such as the aggregates: the clinging to the imputed aggregates with outflows, which are the basis for designating the individuals of the five lineages, is: Subhuti, what do you think? Is form other than illusion, and is illusion something else? The clinging to the imputation of beings such as the eye is: Is the eye other than illusion, and is illusion something else? The clinging to the imputation of elements such as the eye, form, and eye consciousness is: Are the eye, form, and eye consciousness other than illusion, and is illusion something else? The clinging to the imputation of dependent origination such as ignorance is: Is illusion other than dependent origination, and is dependent origination something else? The second is: The clinging to the imputation of purification such as the wings of enlightenment is: Are the factors of enlightenment other than illusion, and is illusion something else? The clinging to the path of seeing the nature of the three doors of liberation is: Is emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness other than illusion, and is illusion something else? The clinging to the imputation of the path of meditation on the nature of the formless absorptions is: Is illusion other than meditative absorption and the formless absorptions, or are they something else? The clinging to the imputation of the path of distinction, the nature of all emptiness, is: Is illusion other than all emptiness, or is all emptiness something else? The clinging to the imputation of noble beings on the path of no more learning, such as the ten powers, is the clinging to the nature of the appearance of clinging to either refutation or establishment: Are the ten powers of the Tathagata and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha other than illusion, and is illusion something else? Third, the conceptualization of the apprehended and the apprehender as described above, and the four that are in accordance with the aspects that distinguish warmth and so on, are distinguished according to their number, and are endowed with a basis and characteristics. Third, there are three ways of embracing, the first of which is that it is unreasonable to embrace with intermediate verses at the beginning of conceptualization.
