Because this is to teach the realization of the unborn nature of the noble ones. Buddhas and other Mahayana Arhats have a reason for not being counted among the Sangha at this time, because the Buddha is considered to belong to the Buddha Jewel. From the fruition to the eighth stage, the Sangha at this time has eight fundamental differences, because there are three fruition stages and four stream-enterers existing in their respective lands. For dull-witted beings and others, there are twenty kinds of branch differences, because there are five stream-enterer stages, three once-returner stages, ten non-returner stages, and Arhat stages existing in their respective lands. This is to teach not to be attached to diligence and so on, as an antidote to the laziness of attachment to evil deeds, the practitioner should know that the actions of his own three doors of body, speech, and mind are all without self-nature. For a long time and so on, this is to teach not to be tired, as an antidote to the laziness of the indolent, one must realize that all dharmas from form to omniscience are without anything to boast about. For the ten directions and so on, this is to teach to fully embrace the path, as an antidote to external laziness, one must learn that all dharmas are unborn by nature. For the flesh eye and so on, this is to teach the five eyes, because in the ultimate sense one does not cling to the eye, but in the conventional sense one should not rely on others through them. The nature of the five eyes in order is: the eye of an ordinary person, through the practice of meditation, can see subtle and coarse forms from a hundred yojanas to three thousand great chiliocosms; the eye that is formed from the ripening of past virtuous deeds, can see the death and birth of other sentient beings; the wisdom that does not discriminate between the two graspers; the wisdom that understands the realization of the noble beings; and the wisdom that directly realizes the nature of all dharmas as they are and as many as they are. For magical powers and so on, this is to teach the six superknowledges, because in the ultimate sense one does not cling to them, but in the conventional sense one should perfect the accumulation of omniscience through them. The nature of the six superknowledges in order is: the earth shakes
