If someone says that because attachment and other things may arise, it is impossible to completely abandon attachment and other faults, then this is to show the reason why the faults abandoned by the noble ones cannot be reversed: The wisdom that realizes selflessness is a dharma. In the continuum of a person who possesses self-sustaining reasoning, attachment and other faults do not make an effort to turn you back. Even if they try to turn you back, you will not be turned back because you do not have the oppression of samsara, and you have the true meaning of impermanence, selflessness, etc., and are the nature or essence of the mind. This is universal, because attachment and other faults are the opposite of these three reasons, have the oppression of samsara, cling to permanence, etc., and arise suddenly in the mindstream. However, that dharma, in the continuum of a person who possesses self-sustaining reasoning, attachment and other faults do not make an effort to turn you back, because the wisdom of a person who possesses self-sustaining reasoning is biased towards you. So, if one abandons what, can one abandon attachment and other faults? All forms of attachment and other faults arise from the view of the aggregates as a collection of things, which has the characteristic of clinging to self and what belongs to self. If someone says that the sutras say that afflicted ignorance is the cause of attachment and other things, is this contradictory? The view of the aggregates is a dharma. It is not contradictory that other sutras say that you are the cause of attachment and other things, and that afflicted ignorance is the cause of attachment and other things, because you are afflicted ignorance, because you cling to the aggregates as self and what belongs to self, and from clinging to self and what belongs to self, attachment arises, and from attachment to self and what belongs to self, anger and jealousy and other faults arise. For this reason, it is said that the cause of attachment and other things is afflicted ignorance. Therefore, the view of the aggregates is a dharma. There is a reason why other sutras say that you are the cause of attachment and other things, because abandoning you can abandon attachment and other things, and for this reason, it is said that you are the cause of attachment and other things. Refuting the view that words not made by a person are a valid source of knowledge, that is, whatever a person
