Through meditation, one contemplates external small forms while perceiving internal formlessness, and understands those forms through overcoming them. Seeing through overcoming is the first. Practicing greatness in the place of smallness is the second. Perceiving internal form, one contemplates external small forms as before, which is the third. Applying greatness in the place of smallness is the fourth. These four arise from the cause of the first liberation. Perceiving internal formlessness, one observes external blue forms. Showing blue color as if it is blue, one contemplates the arising of blue light, etc., and understands those forms through overcoming them. Seeing through overcoming is the fifth of the overcoming abodes. Likewise, one applies yellow, red, and white accordingly, and these four color-overcoming abodes arise from the impure liberation itself. Nineteenth, thus, from the eight liberations to the overcoming, those are also possessed by other noble ones, hearers, and solitary Buddhas, so they are common qualities. However, the ten powers, four fearlessnesses, etc., the unshared qualities of the Buddhas, are the unique, unshared qualities of the Buddhas alone. Second, gathering through the method of praise, there are two: general teaching and specific explanation. The first is "Buddha's qualities," etc. The second has two: common and special. The first has ten: the four immeasurables, liberations, overcoming, exhaustion, absence of afflictions, knowing through thinking, individual correct knowledge, clairvoyance, marks and examples, and complete purity. The first: Loving-kindness is the general name of the four immeasurables, because it is endowed with it. One has loving-kindness towards sentient beings. From that loving-kindness arise two intentions: happiness and benefit. The first: there are three immeasurables, namely, having the intention of meeting with happiness through loving-kindness, separating from suffering through compassion, and not separating from happiness through joy. Equanimity is the intention of benefit that abides without the all-pervading afflictions of attachment and anger. Thus, I prostrate to the Buddha who possesses the intentions of both benefit and happiness. Second

The fourth is that the eight qualities of the capable Bhagavan are that one is definitely liberated from all obscurations. With eight powers, one subdues all the worlds, and with ten exhaustions (powers), the wisdom of the Buddha pervades all that is to be known. Thus, (the Buddha's) mind is liberated from the two obscurations. The fifth is that one tames all the afflictions of all sentient beings who have afflictions without exception, and in order to prevent those afflictions that have not manifested from arising in the future, one shows the antidote, destroys the seeds of affliction, and is especially loving towards sentient beings who have afflictions. The sixth is that when one wishes to know the thoughts of those to be tamed, etc., it manifests naturally without effort, and because one is free from the two obscurations, one has no attachment or obstruction. As it says in the Uttaratantra: "Because afflictions are abandoned, there is no attachment. Because all obscurations of knowledge are purified, there is no obstruction in all places." One is constantly in equipoise, and one cuts off doubts by answering all questions. The wisdom born from the aspiration of the Hearers depends on immediately generating the wish and entering into samadhi through effort, and it is partial wisdom, sometimes not in samadhi, and unable to cut off some doubts. It is not like naturally accomplishing things in sequence. The seventh is that (knowing) the support and the supported are the true nature of Dharma and meaning, which will be explained. (Knowing) speech and wisdom are the true nature of definitive words and fearlessness, respectively, is the speaker. One excellently teaches the holy Dharma in a way that is constantly unobstructed by wisdom. The eighth is that by going to the place of those to be tamed with the direct knowledge of miraculous powers, by directly knowing the various categories of mind with the direct knowledge of knowing the minds of others, one knows the behavior of sentient beings. By knowing that they teach the Dharma in their respective languages with the divine ear, by recalling coming here from the past with the power of remembering past lives, by seeing the place of going in the future with the divine eye, and by knowing how one will definitely be liberated from samsara through the path of the three vehicles with the exhaustion of outflows.
