Not earth, not water, not fire, not wind, not space, not consciousness, if not all, then, besides that, who is the meaningful person? Thus it is said. These are the explanation of the yogic ground that focuses on selflessness as the antidote to the afflictive obscurations that are obstacles to liberation. As an antidote to the obscurations of knowledge, which are obstacles to omniscience. Secondly, there are two ways to meditate on the selflessness of phenomena: generally establishing that all phenomena are without inherent existence, and individually establishing each separately. First, the so-called phenomena are just this: the five aggregates, the eighteen elements, and the twelve sources. To these, self and other schools believe that they are established by their own characteristics, established by their own nature, established by their own essence, and established as substantially existent without depending on others, which is the manifestation of clinging to phenomena. And this is the root of samsara, which is afflicted ignorance. And this must be negated by negating the object of clinging, that is, by establishing its own characteristics and so on. If the self-established, etc., which are to be negated, are negated by reason, then the phenomena of appearance and sound are without inherent existence, and emptiness will be easily established. Although the teacher spoke of countless kinds of reasoning for negation in the Madhyamaka, in short: Not from self, not from other, not from both, not from no cause. Whatever things, wherever, never have birth. Thus it is said, all of this is contained herein. Here, these four kinds of reasoning will be spoken of. To this, if the phenomena of aggregates, elements, and sources have a birth established by their own characteristics and nature, then, is it self-born, other-born, both-born, or causeless-born? Thus, it is investigated, because for substantially established birth, it is impossible to have these four extremes. Here, the mere conventional arising of interdependence is not negated, if it is negated, it would become a slander of the Middle Way of interdependence. To this, the inner and outer phenomena do not arise from themselves by their own characteristics, because it is contradictory for oneself to act on oneself. For example, just as a sword blade cannot cut itself. Furthermore, if it arises from itself, because the cause of birth will never be incomplete, then samsara will always be only itself

Therefore, it will arise. In this way, from a seed to a sprout, and from that, stems and leaves arise, etc., there will be no opportunity for the earlier cause to produce the later effect. Because the later effect is seen without the earlier cause ceasing; and because it has been promised that the earlier cause will never cease. A thing established by its own nature does not arise from another. The so-called "other" refers to things that are established separately, such as pillars and vases. Just as fruits are manifestly believed to arise from causes that are established independently, they would also arise from other non-causes, because causes and non-causes are the same in their self-nature. If it were established by its own nature, then thick darkness would also arise from flames, which would be too extreme. Therefore, it is unreasonable. It is also impossible for it to arise by its own nature from both (cause and non-cause), because arising from each one has been negated, and because both "other" and "non-other" do not exist. It is also impossible to arise from no cause, because it would either arise in all times, places, and circumstances, or it would never arise, because it does not depend on other causes that occur at specific times and places. Therefore, just as the external and internal phenomena are examined by the self and other schools, if arising by its own nature or essence in both the ultimate and conventional truths is negated by reason, then the clinging to phenomena will cease, and the wisdom that knows selflessness will easily arise. Here, I do not intend to elaborate on the views of the Svatantrika and other schools, and whether they are reasonable or not, because it is not necessary for beginners practicing yoga. Second, there are four points to establish separately: establishing external appearances as mind, establishing mind appearances as illusion, showing that illusion is inexpressible, and quoting scriptures as evidence. The first point is: the phenomena included in the aggregates, elements, and sources can be determined as two types: form and formless. Form phenomena are the five objects such as form, and the senses such as the eye. If they are divided into individual atoms, then the gross whole
