Moreover, just as I am, these dependently originated phenomena that are nominally designated are also understood to exist only nominally, without inherent existence. Ultimately, one will easily realize the ultimate suchness. The Commentary on Entering [the Bodhisattva's Way of Life] states: "Therefore, these worldly conventions, when examined in detail, do not exist. Because they exist by reputation without being examined, yogis, when examining them in this order, will be able to fathom the depths of suchness very quickly. How? What is it like to not find something with the sevenfold analysis? Yogis say it exists, but cannot find it. Therefore, he can easily enter suchness, so here too, its establishment should be accepted in the same way." It is said. Therefore, like the noble father and son (Asanga and Vasubandhu), the purpose of proving the selflessness of persons is to easily realize the selflessness of phenomena, not to believe that realizing the selflessness of persons liberates one from samsara, because Hearers and Solitary Realizers must also realize the selflessness of phenomena. Therefore, the Hearer Vehicle teaches the Hearers the sixteen aspects of the Four Noble Truths, such as impermanence, in order to gradually abide in the suchness of the selflessness of phenomena after realizing the selflessness of persons. As the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning states: "By knowing birth, one knows destruction. By knowing destruction, one knows impermanence. From impermanence itself, one also knows emptiness. One also realizes the nature of phenomena." It is said. In their own great schools, such as the Svātantrika, some Hearers and Solitary Realizers, although they have not realized the selflessness of phenomena, believe that when the path of seeing arises by meditating on the sixteen aspects of the Four Noble Truths, such as impermanence, they can abandon the object of imputation, which is a self that is different from the aggregates, the root of the imputed self, the afflictions to be abandoned, which are imputed, and cultivate its antidote, thereby attaining the cessation of all afflictions. However, this view does not seem reasonable. The sutras state: "The cause of afflictions is the view of the aggregates, the root of afflictions is the view of the aggregates, the origin of afflictions is the view of the aggregates." It is said that all afflictions have the coemergent view of the aggregates as their root, and that by realizing the selflessness of a self that is different from the aggregates, one can abandon the object of the self that is imputed based on the aggregates, the view of the aggregates.

Because the innate clinging to self cannot be abandoned. Furthermore, this scripture is like when some people see a snake coiled in a wall crevice and become frightened, others try to dispel their fear by saying there are no elephants here. Thus, trying to eliminate the fear of snakes by denying the existence of elephants, since there is no connection between the two, becomes a laughing matter for the wise. As it is said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way": "When one realizes selflessness, one abandons the imputed self; this is not even desired as a basis for clinging to self. Therefore, realizing selflessness completely uproots the view of self; this statement is indeed most excellent. It is like seeing a snake in the wall crevice of one's own house, yet trying to dispel the fear by saying there are no elephants here, wanting to eliminate the fear of snakes in this way. Alas! This will only make others laugh at you." Therefore, even the Hearers and Solitary Realizers must realize that the aggregates are without inherent existence, because the root of afflictions is the innate view of self, and the root of that is the ignorance that arises from clinging to the aggregates as real. Thus, in the "Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness," it is said: "Those phenomena that arise from causes and conditions, to analyze them as truly existent, that is called ignorance, which gives rise to the twelve branches." Fifth, citing scriptures that establish the proof: In the "Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son," it is said: "Great King, this individual, this person, is the six elements, namely, the earth element, the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the consciousness element, and the space element. Among these, the earth element is not self, not sentient being, not life, not a producer, not born of power, not a woman, not a man, not a hermaphrodite, not I, not mine, not anything else. Likewise, the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element are also not self, not sentient being, not life, not a producer, not born of power, not a son of power, not a woman, not a man, not a hermaphrodite, not I, not mine, not anything else." Furthermore, in the "Garland of Jewels," it is said: "Just as if trees and branches are completely cut down and destroyed, there is nothing left, so too is the individual. If the aggregates are destroyed, it is the same. The individual
