If one thinks that when seeing "all phenomena are without self," one will realize that form and other things do not exist, because form and other aggregates are the self, and one has realized the absence of self. However, this is not the case. Therefore, the aggregates are not the self. If it is said that when explaining the relationship of karma and result, the word "self" only refers to the aggregates themselves; and when seeing the absence of self, it refers to the person who is the inner agent fabricated by others. Therefore, when seeing the absence of self, one only sees the formations that are separate from the person who is the inner agent, and one will not see that form and other things do not exist. To this, I say: If you abandon the permanent self, then your mind or aggregates will not become the self. If, because of fear of the faults mentioned above, you think that the word "self" refers to the permanent self, and you want to abandon such a "self" when seeing the absence of self, then your mind or aggregates will not be suitable to become the "self," thus causing your own view to collapse. Therefore, if the word "self" in "all phenomena are without self" does not refer to the aggregates, then it should not refer to the aggregates elsewhere either. If you think that it refers to the aggregates elsewhere, then it should also refer to the aggregates here. Furthermore, your yoga, by seeing the absence of self, cannot realize the reality of form and other things. Since attachment and other emotions arise from form and other things, it is impossible to realize their own nature. If one thinks that when seeing the realization of the absence of self in all phenomena, one only sees the absence of self of the inner agent who is different from the aggregates, then, according to your view, the yogi, by seeing the absence of self, cannot realize the reality of form and other aggregates, because one only realizes the absence of self that is different from the aggregates. Therefore, the yogi who sees the absence of self will still generate attachment and other afflictions, because they have not truly realized the nature of form and other things, and attachment and other afflictions arise from the objects of form and other things. Second, refuting the proof: Just as we regard the scriptural authority as

For you, there is no harm from reasoning. The scriptures also only show the aggregates as the self, for example: Because the teacher said the aggregates are the self, therefore, if you think the aggregates are the self, then, because the teacher said to the monks, whether a śrāmaṇa or a brahmin, anyone who thinks of me, and correctly observes me, and only correctly observes these aggregates that are the object of my clinging, so it is said that the aggregates are only the self, therefore it is thought that the aggregates are the self, if you say that. That is to prevent others besides the aggregates, because other scriptures say that form is not the self, etc. This sutra does not clearly show that the aggregates are the self, so what is it? It is to prevent the self that is conceived by others as different from the aggregates, and to clearly show the undeluded conventional truth. Furthermore, how do you know that this prevents the self other than the aggregates? Because other scriptures also prevent form, etc., from being the self. How is it prevented? Because other scriptures say that form, feeling, is not the self, nor is perception, nor is formation, nor is consciousness. Therefore, it is not thought that the aggregates mentioned in the sutra are the self. Because other scriptures say from form is not the self to consciousness is not the self, therefore, it is not thought that the meaning of the aggregates mentioned in the sutra is that the aggregates are the self. If the previous sutra showed that the aggregates are the self, then it should not be prevented in other sutras that form, etc., are the self, because it contradicts the previous sutra. Therefore, the previous sutra only prevents the self that is conceived by others as different from the aggregates, and from the sutra that prevents form, etc., from being the self, it prevents the self that is based on imputation, that is, the object of the view of the perishable collection, having the clinging of the aggregates, because at that time it is appropriate to think about that suchness. Furthermore, even if the previous sutra called "monks" is determined as a way of establishing, it cannot show that the aggregates are the self, for example: When it is said that the aggregates are the self, it refers to the collection of the aggregates, not the essence of the aggregates. For example, when it is said that trees are a forest, it refers to the collection of trees being a forest, not each tree being a forest.
