Therefore, that emptiness is the ultimate emptiness. Why is this explained? It is said to eliminate the clinging of those Vaibhashikas who believe that Nirvana is an obstruction that exists substantially. The three realms arise from conditions, so they are definitely said to be conditioned. Whatever is emptiness of that, is said to be the emptiness of the conditioned. Because the three realms, such as the desire realm, arise from causes and conditions, they are called conditioned. And that which is empty of itself is the emptiness of the conditioned. Whatever has no arising, abiding, or ceasing, is said to be unconditioned. Whatever is emptiness of this, is the emptiness of the unconditioned. Whatever has no initial arising, no intermediate abiding, and no final ceasing, is called unconditioned. And that which is empty of its own nature is the emptiness of the unconditioned. Why is this explained? It is explained to eliminate the clinging of the Vaibhashikas and others who believe that unconditioned things such as space are also permanent substances. Whatever has no end, is said to be beyond end. Whatever is emptiness of that, is the emptiness beyond end. Whatever has no extreme of permanence or annihilation is beyond extremes, that is, the Middle Way. That which is empty of itself is the emptiness beyond extremes. This is also explained to eliminate clinging to the Middle Way that abandons permanence and annihilation. Beginning, first, and last, since those are absent, samsara is without beginning or end. Since it is free from going and coming, like a dream, this existence, whatever is empty by that, is the emptiness of no beginning and no end, as it is definitely stated in the scriptures. Samsara has no beginning or first, because that would lead to the fault of arising without a cause. Because there is no beginning, there is no end, because the end depends on the beginning. Whatever has no beginning and no end has no middle. Whatever cannot determine the beginning, end, and middle has no coming here from before and no going from here to later. Therefore, this existence, which is like a dream, whatever is empty by its very nature, is the emptiness of no beginning and no end, as it is said in the scriptures.

The treatise endowed with the qualities of abandonment, expounds the Prajñāpāramitā. "Abandonment" (dor ba) certainly refers to discarding and scattering. "Non-abandonment" (dor med) means without abandonment, that is, without any loss. By this non-abandonment, whatever is empty of that, is called non-abandonment emptiness. Abandonment certainly refers to discarding, scattering, and relinquishing. Conventionally, there is nothing to be discarded or abandoned, nor is there anything to be accepted, such as generosity and other virtuous deeds; this is non-abandonment. By this non-abandonment, whatever is empty of that, is called non-abandonment emptiness. This is also taught to prevent attachment to virtuous deeds as something to be taken. The nature of conditioned phenomena and so on, because it is not made by disciples, solitary realizers, bodhisattvas, and tathāgatas, therefore, the nature of conditioned phenomena and so on is declared as self-nature. Whatever is empty of that, is self-nature emptiness. The nature of conditioned and unconditioned phenomena and so on is not created by the wisdom and vision of noble disciples and so on, therefore it is called nature. Whatever is empty of that, is self-nature emptiness. The eighteen elements and six contacts, and the six dharmas arising from them, as well as form, formless, and so on, conditioned and unconditioned dharmas, all these dharmas, being empty by their own nature, is the emptiness of all dharmas. The six internal elements, such as the eye, the six external elements, such as form, and the six consciousness elements, such as eye consciousness, are the eighteen elements. The six contacts, such as eye contact, and the emptiness of the nature of all dharmas, such as the six feelings arising from them, is the emptiness of all dharmas. The nature of dharmas such as form, whatever is unreal, such as the changeability of form, is self-characteristic emptiness. The respective characteristics of the dharmas from form to omniscience, such as the changeability of form, whatever does not exist as a true entity, is self-characteristic emptiness. Explanation of the characteristics of dharmas such as form. Form, etc.
