It is said to counteract the clinging to the truth of those things. As it is said: In order to destroy all conceptualizations, the nectar of emptiness was taught. Those who are attached to it, you despise them. It is said. It is also said in the Ornament of the Dense Array: Even hearing and thinking about the view of emptiness, if someone's view is not destroyed, it is an incurable view, like a patient abandoned by a doctor. It is said that those who cling to emptiness as true are like patients abandoned by doctors, with incurable views. The world of sentient beings and containers is great because it pervades all, and because there is no end to the immeasurable examples. These ten directions, the emptiness of which is the great emptiness, are spoken to counteract the clinging to greatness. The directions, such as the east, pervade all sentient beings and containers, because the sentient beings and containers that dwell in that part of the direction are designated as that direction, such as the east. Thus, because it pervades all, the directions are great. Furthermore, the meditation on love and so on is done by focusing on all directions, so the directions abide in immeasurable examples, and therefore they are also great because they are infinite. These ten directions, such as the east, which are empty in nature, are called the great emptiness. Why is this said? Because the Samkhyas and others cling to it as a great substance that pervades all, it is said to counteract that. This is the supreme of needs, therefore it is the ultimate Nirvana. What is the emptiness of that by that, that is the ultimate emptiness. In order to dispel the clinging of the wise to real Nirvana, the ultimate emptiness is taught by the ultimate wisdom. Nirvana is the most excellent of all the needs of beings, therefore it is called ultimate. It is also said: If Nirvana is real, Nirvana will become a conditioned phenomenon, and there is nothing unconditioned anywhere. Because it is not true in this way, that Nirvana
