The basis of the eye and so on internally, and the objects such as form externally, that self from which arises the mind that grasps as 'I' is merely unexamined, following the fame of the world, accomplished by the power of ignorance, and not accomplished by its own nature. Because this self does not exist by its own nature, but merely because of ignorance, names are applied, therefore yogis do not see the self. Because it is not seen, the self of the self that depends on it also becomes unseen. Therefore, one will be liberated from samsara, as it is said: When both internal and external selves, and the thought of 'I' and 'mine' are exhausted, then grasping will cease, and when that ceases, birth ceases. How is it that if there is no self, there is also no 'mine'? Because the agent arises from nothing, therefore if there is no self, there is no 'mine'. Therefore, by viewing the emptiness of self and 'mine', the yogi will be liberated. Just as without a potter there is no pot, similarly without an agent there is no action, because the agent is the object to which the action is directed, therefore it is called action. Therefore, since the self that is the agent does not exist, the 'mine' that is the action does not exist, therefore the yogi who views the aggregates as empty of self and 'mine' will be liberated. Secondly, that also indicates other similar types, just as the names of self and its appropriation are similar to the analysis of a chariot, to show that other things are also like that, the verse says: Pot, cloth, tent, army, and garland, forest, chariot, vehicle, and house, and so on, all things, by whatever means this world speaks of, should be understood. The objects such as pot, cloth, tent, etc., like a chariot, do not exist when analyzed by the seven aspects. Other than that, just as threads and so on rely on their own parts, by whatever means the beings of the world speak and designate, so should it be understood. Why is that? Because the Powerful Sage does not dispute with the world. In the sutra it says: The world disputes with me, but I do not dispute with the world. The Powerful Sage

This is because there is no arguing or refuting worldly conventions, but rather accepting the worldly conventions as they are known. Furthermore, how does the world apply terms to things? Such as qualities, parts, desire, characteristics, trees, etc., and those possessing qualities, bodies, passions, and substrates, fire, etc. If analyzed with the sevenfold analysis like a chariot, they do not exist. Other than that analysis, they exist in worldly convention. For example, the blueness of a pot and a spark is like qualities and those possessing qualities; a pot and shape are like parts and those possessing parts; a pot and a bulging belly, a shrunken base are like characteristics and substrates; particularly clinging to beautiful objects such as forms, and desire and passion as their basis; firewood and fire are like what is to be burned and what burns, etc. If searched for with the sevenfold analysis like a chariot, they do not exist. Other than that analysis, without analyzing, through worldly convention, these things exist. Analyzing the Distinction Between Cause and Effect Second, analyzing the distinction between cause and effect, divided into showing the mutual dependence of cause and effect, and refuting by examining contact and non-contact. The first part is: If a cause produces what is to be produced, then it is a cause; if it does not produce an effect, then it will not become a cause. The fruit also arises because there is a cause, so arising is changing. It should be said, what changes from what? What changes before what? If the seed that is considered the cause produces the sprout to be produced, then that seed is the cause. If it does not produce that fruit, then the term 'cause' will disappear, because the cause to which the term 'cause' applies will become causeless. The fruit, which is the sprout, also arises because there is a cause, the seed, so cause and effect do not exist inherently. If it is thought that they are established by their own nature, then it should be said, from which previously established cause or effect will the cause and effect arise again? From which stable support will the supported be established beforehand? Because that is not a capability, it should be known that the imputation of cause and effect is also imputed dependently, like a chariot. The second part
