That itself is the Middle Way. Thus it is said. Therefore, when one does not accept even a little bit of inherent existence, then one cannot examine any extreme. Like this: If discriminations exist in things, then there is change; how things do not exist has already been examined. Without things, these do not arise, for example, just as there is no fire without fuel. If things have some inherent existence, then their arising comes from their own nature, or from self, other, both, and Isvara, etc., and having arisen, abiding is permanence, and disintegration is annihilation, etc., if there is a change in discriminations, how things do not have inherent existence, as such, has already been thoroughly examined by reasoning, therefore, without things, these discriminations of grasping at extremes do not arise, for example, just as there is no fire without fuel. Fourth, showing the necessity of analyzing with reasoning is: Individual ordinary beings are bound by discriminations. Non-discriminating yogis will become liberated. Whatever is the cessation of discriminations, the wise say is the fruit of analysis. Because individual ordinary beings who do not know such a nature of emptiness of inherent existence are bound by their own discriminations like the saliva of a worm. Having understood such a nature, therefore, yogis who do not discriminate in any extreme will become liberated. Whatever is the cessation of all discriminations of grasping at extremes, that is what the teacher has stated in the Madhyamaka treatises as the fruit of analysis. It is also said in the Shatashastra: If things exist by their own nature, what is the benefit of seeing emptiness? Seeing discriminations is bondage, and that itself is what is eliminated here. That is what was said. Therefore, it is said in the scriptures that because of attachment to analysis and debate, it was not composed, but for the sake of liberation, this was taught. Because it is like that, therefore, the teacher, in the Madhyamaka treatises, made extensive analysis through many doors of reasoning, which is because of attachment to debate, wanting to overwhelm others, and not because of that, know that, through the door of analysis,

The teaching of Suchness in the treatises is for the sake of liberating beings, so that they may realize this Dharma-nature without inversion and thereby attain liberation. If you have enumerated the examinations of other opponents, hasn't the treatise refuted them? Therefore, if the entry of the treatise is not for the sake of debate, but merely to cease conceptualization, how is it established as a result? Although analytical examination is not for the sake of debate, nevertheless, if it is merely explained, there is no fault in destroying other tenets. If Suchness is explained through analytical examination, since other tenets are inherently weak, they cannot stand on their own, and like darkness when light approaches, they will destroy themselves, so we have no fault. Therefore, in the *Śataśāstra* it is said: 'The Tathāgatas did not speak this Dharma for the sake of debate, but like fire burns wood, it burns the opponents of others.' That is what was said. It is not like that. If this Dharma is taught for the sake of debate, then undoubtedly one will hate the faulty views of others and become attached to one's own views that are endowed with reason, and thus conceptualization will not cease. Like this: attachment to one's own view and hatred towards the views of others are both conceptualizations. Therefore, since conceptualization has not ceased, one will be bound, not liberated. Therefore, having eliminated attachment and anger, if one examines analytically, one will quickly be liberated. Because this Dharma is not taught for the sake of debate, therefore, having eliminated attachment to one's own side and anger towards the side of others, one who wishes to realize Suchness will quickly be liberated if they examine the nature of reality analytically. As it is said in the *Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning*: 'Those of great non-contention have no side; for those who have no side, how can there be another side?' And similarly: 'If there is attachment to one's own side and displeasure towards the side of others, one will not go to nirvāṇa; the practice of duality will never be pacified.' Thus it is said.
