Thinking that the Noble Ones will not be pleased if I do not practice patience, I practice patience. Since ethics and so on, which are not dedicated to omniscience, will not become the cause of Buddhahood, I completely dedicate all roots of virtue to great enlightenment for the sake of liberating beings. Thinking that no one other than Bodhisattvas can correctly explain the suchness of dependent arising, I respect the Bodhisattvas. Secondly, from the perspective of advising to listen to it: Those who are skilled in the profound and vast way, by gradually attaining the ground of great joy, those who seek that meaning should listen to this path. It is said, like that, having accumulated the collections of merit for a long time without interruption, a being who has become skilled in the profound and vast way will gradually attain the ground of great joy, therefore, those who seek that ground, which has suchness as its object, should listen to this path of dependent arising that will be explained.

Equality like the moon, images, and emanations, and the equality of all dharmas being without duality in both existence and non-existence. When the nature of all dharmas is thoroughly realized in this way, the sixth bodhisattva ground is manifestly attained through sharp and compliant forbearance, and subsequently obtained. Thus it is said. Secondly, regarding reasoning, there are two aspects: stating the proposition of non-arising and demonstrating the reasoning that establishes it. First, among the ten equalities mentioned earlier, it is thought that by demonstrating the equality of the non-arising of dharmas through reasoning, it will be easier to demonstrate the others as well. Therefore, the teacher, at the beginning of the Madhyamaka treatise, stated: "Not from self, not from other, not from both, not from without cause. Whatever entities, wherever they are, never have arising." Here also, after restating those four propositions, in order to establish them through reasoning, it is said: "It does not arise from itself, nor does it arise from others, not from both, nor does it arise without a cause." Were these four propositions not already established by the teacher? And what is the need to state them again in order to establish them? The teacher only stated: "The nature of entities is not in conditions, etc.," and only showed the reasoning that prevents other-arising, but did not show others. Here, the reasoning for other propositions is shown, and a different form of reasoning is shown for other-arising as well, therefore it is stated. Why did the teacher not establish reasoning for self-arising, etc.? Because self-arising, etc., are the views of the outsiders, and it was considered that those views had already been refuted by their own schools. If so, what is the use of stating it here again? Here, it is to show another more excellent form of reasoning. Why are only these four propositions mentioned to prevent arising? Because for those who say that arising is true, it is impossible to have any other situation beyond these four extremes. Are these four extremes of arising that are being refuted here refuted in ultimate truth or in conventional truth? They are refuted in both truths. As it is said: "At that time, with some reasoning, self and other

Because it is to be explained, from the kind of non-cause birth, that kind is not a kind even in name, by what will your birth be? If so, birth will not exist even in name, because birth cannot exceed the four extremes. If you think so, it is not so, although the birth analyzed by reason does not exceed the four extremes, the birth of name is not certain here, because worldly people do not have the analysis of one and different for cause and effect, but only establish names with the saying that sprouts are born from seeds, and smoke is born from fire. In this way, because the birth of the four extremes is blocked, birth will not be blocked, because the birth of name is not blocked. If you think so, the birth of name is not to be blocked, for the birth of name that is free from the four extremes, it is called dependent arising, and dependent arising is the Middle Way. As it is said in the treatise: Whatever is dependent arising, that is emptiness, that is dependently designated, that is the Middle Way. That's what it says. Saying that birth is from any of the four extremes is not saying dependent arising, because the one who speaks of dependent arising has no commitment to falling into extremes, because dependent arising is the antidote to all views of clinging to extremes. As it is said in the treatise: Whatever arises depending on what, that is not temporarily that itself, nor is it different from that, therefore it is neither discontinuous nor permanent. It is said, and here it is also said: Therefore, with this reasoning of dependent arising, it destroys all the nets of evil views. It will be explained in this way. Therefore, the sects of self and others are not speaking of dependent arising because they admit the birth of any of the four extremes, and whoever speaks of dependent arising is abandoning all extremes and entering the great path of the Middle Way, the path of all the Tathagatas, because the Bhagavan has blocked the birth of the four extremes and proclaimed dependent arising. As the teacher said: Suffering is done by oneself, or done by others, or done by both, or observed by the causeless logician, what you rely on
