Just as it is not present in the Arhats who have abandoned the aggregates and entered into peace, similarly, if it is not present in the world, then I do not say that this is also present beyond the world. Just as the aggregates of the Arhats who have abandoned all the remaining aggregates and entered into the peace of Nirvana are not present in any conventional sense, similarly, if it is not present in the world, then, like the aggregates of the Arhats, I do not say that this conventional truth exists even beyond the fame of the world. Therefore, I do not independently accept conventional truth merely for the sake of others' faces. Therefore, this conventional truth is accepted only by the world, and it is appropriate to speak of refutation to those who accept it, not to others. It is said, 'If the world does not harm you, then look to the world itself and refute this. You and the world can argue here, and afterwards I will rely on the powerful.' We are in a very difficult position to reverse the conventional truth of the world. If the fame of the world does not harm you, then look to the people of the world and refute this conventional truth that is famous in the world, and I will also help you. You and the conventional truth of the world can argue here, and if you win, I will also rely on your side and never accept conventional truth. If you are defeated by the world, then at that time I will rely on the very powerful people of the world. Even in such a dispute, it is not possible to reverse the world. Is it reversed by the reasoning of analysis, or is it reversed by the fame of the world itself? The first is not reasonable, because the people of the world do not accept the reasoning of analysis, and they only use terms when they do not allow reason. The second is also not reasonable, because if fame is a valid cognition, then it is not appropriate to prevent fame, and if it is not a valid cognition, then it cannot refute fame. Therefore, for the time being, the terminology of the world cannot be refuted, and because it has results, it must be accepted. What is it?

Then, how do Madhyamikas, following worldly people oppressed by the thick sleep of ignorance, enter the correct path? Just as worldly people follow conventional terms and cling to things, Madhyamikas do not cling to worldly conventional terms. Because, after analysis, they have realized that worldly people's conventional terms have false meanings. Therefore, for the sake of following the world, Madhyamikas only acknowledge the conventional terms that are renowned among worldly people, but like an echo in a valley, they merely repeat the sound and have no attachment to the meaning whatsoever. Therefore, Madhyamikas are not bound by worldly conventional terms, nor are they different from worldly people who dwell on the path of samsara. Thus, they do not deny any of the names and conventional terms for all defiled and purified dharmas, from form to omniscience, which are renowned among worldly people. Regarding the meaning of these conventional terms, they do not cling to any extreme as worldly people and proponents of philosophical systems cling to and conceptualize, but rather follow conventional terms. This is called abiding in the profound dependent origination, abandoning permanence and annihilation, the Middle Way. No opponent can refute or examine a yogi who abides on such a path, because, like an illusory person, they have not accepted any side. Therefore, it is said in the "Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning": "Those who are great and free from disputes have no পক্ষ (pakṣa, side, पक्ष), and those who have no পক্ষ (pakṣa, side, पक्ष), how can they have an opponent's पक्ष (pakṣa, side, पक्ष)?" This is what is said. Not only is it impossible to refute yogis who have directly realized the path of dependent origination as described above through wisdom born from meditation, but also other logicians cannot slightly refute those who have gained certainty about the profound path of dependent origination through hearing and thinking, and who therefore speak of dependent origination, because they also do not assert any partisan view of their own system. However, as long as they have not directly realized the realm of reality, they still need faith.
