Because depending on seeing the clear object free from dimness, both the object and the subject are false, because neither appears on it. Therefore, the consciousness of the subject without an object will never exist. If it is not like that, if there is a mind without an object of knowledge, then, for those who are not blurred, who are related to the object of hair and the eye, it will also become an illusion of hair, if it is not like that, then it does not exist. If there is a consciousness that appears without the object of knowledge, the illusion of hair, then, for the object of the illusion of hair, such as the cane, when the eyes without dimness look at it, the consciousness that appears as the illusion of hair will also arise, because the object without the illusion of hair is the same. If it is said that the arising and non-arising of the appearing consciousness is not determined by the presence or absence of the object of the illusion of hair, but by the difference of other causes of appearance, that is not right, because it will be refuted below. Therefore, for those who are not blurred, it is impossible for the illusion of hair to arise, therefore, the consciousness of the subject without an object does not exist. Second, refuting the defense of its fault: Because for those who see, the power of consciousness is not mature, therefore consciousness does not arise. If it is said that it is not because of the lack of an object of knowledge, if the presence or absence of an object determines the arising or non-arising of consciousness, then that is also possible. But here, because there is an object of knowledge, the appearing consciousness arises, not because of the lack of an object of knowledge, so consciousness does not arise, then what is it? It is determined by the complete maturity or immaturity of one's own habits. Because it is like that, for those who see the illusion of hair, the power of consciousness of the illusion of hair is completely mature, and because there is no complete maturity of power, for those who are not blurred, the consciousness that appears as the illusion of hair will not arise. If it is said that if there is something called power, it will cause the arising or non-arising of consciousness due to maturity or immaturity, then, because there is no power, this cannot be established. Because the reason that will be explained shows that there is no power, the certainty just mentioned cannot be established. If power cannot be established, then? For those who are born, it is impossible for power to exist. For the unborn nature, there is also no power. If you think a little about something called power, then consciousness

Or is it related to the former? To fully understand things related to the past and future. Firstly, according to the first way, it is not possible for a consciousness that has arisen to have the potential to exist in the present. Because when the sixth word, 'of potential,' exists, the potential is present. And that is not different from consciousness. Therefore, the consciousness that has become the result is the present itself. It is also unreasonable for it to become the cause itself. If that were the case, the arising of present consciousness would also become without a cause, because the present potential cannot be its cause, and no other cause has been acknowledged. When the fifth word, 'from potential,' exists, if present consciousness arises from potential, that is also unreasonable, because something that exists in the present does not depend on others. According to the second way, it is not possible for an unarisen consciousness to have a potential related to the future. Why? Without a distinction, there cannot be something that is distinguished. A barren woman's son should also have it. When it is called 'the potential of consciousness,' consciousness is the distinction, and potential is the basis of the distinction. Because the distinction, future consciousness, does not exist, the potential distinguished by it does not exist. Because without grasping the distinction, there is no understanding of the basis of the distinction. If one wants potential even for unarisen consciousness, then a barren woman's son should also have that potential, because they are the same in being unarisen. If one wants to argue by saying that it will arise, if one thinks in one's heart of the future consciousness that will arise from potential, and says, 'This is the potential of this consciousness,' then there is no contradiction in distinguishing the potential with the consciousness that will arise. For example, it is like saying, 'Cook the rice,' 'Make cloth from these cotton threads.' If there is no potential, there will be no arising of this. If there is potential, then the future consciousness that will arise from it, if it becomes an object of awareness, because future consciousness does not exist, there is no potential distinguished by it. Therefore, just like a barren woman's son and so on, if there is no potential, there is also no arising of this. This negates the examples of rice and so on.
