Therefore, because worldly people, after merely planting a seed, say "I have begotten this son," and also think, "The tree has also been planted," therefore, there is no arising from another in the world. That things arise from another, let alone being established as real, is not even established in the world. Because worldly people, after placing the impure seed of a son in the mother's womb, say, referring to the later child, "I have begotten this son," and after merely planting a tree seed, think, referring to the later tree, "This too was planted by me." If cause and effect were established as other, how could they apply the name "These were begotten by me" to those fruits after merely planting seeds? Therefore, worldly people do not apply names in terms of cause and effect being other. The merit of dependent arising being established as neither permanent nor interrupted. Third, showing the merit of dependent arising being established as neither permanent nor interrupted: Because a sprout is not other than the seed, therefore, when a sprout exists, the seed is not destroyed. Because it does not exist as one, therefore, when a sprout exists, one cannot say that the seed exists. If a sprout were other than the seed, then when a sprout arises, the seed would become interrupted, just as the death of a cow would not become interrupted because a cow exists. According to our view, when a sprout arises, the seed is exhausted and there is no interruption, because the sprout is not other than the seed. This completely eliminates the view of annihilation. One should not say that the seed exists permanently when the sprout exists, because the sprout does not exist as one with the seed. This completely eliminates the view of permanence. Therefore, it is said in the sutra: If the seed exists, then the sprout arises in that way; what is the seed is not the sprout itself; it is not different from it, nor is it not it; thus it is neither permanent nor interrupted, it is the nature of phenomena. The meaning here is that if seeds and sprouts had even a little bit of self-nature, because there is no other form. It must become one or the other. When both seed and sprout are merely imputed and have no self-nature at all

This means, how could it be simultaneous or different times like the seed and sprout of a dream? Therefore, it must be admitted without a doubt that no object arises from its own nature. If it is not like that, if its own nature is dependent arising, then, because of denying it, things will be destroyed. If emptiness becomes the cause of the destruction of things, then that is illogical, therefore things are not existent. If form, feeling, etc., are not merely imputed, but arise from their own nature, relying on causes and conditions, then, when yogis see all dharmas as unborn and empty, by denying that things arise from their own nature, just as a hammer, etc., destroys a vase, emptiness will destroy things, therefore emptiness will become the cause of the destruction of things, which is not logical. As it is said in the Noble Jewel Heap Sutra: "Subhuti, moreover, the Middle Way's separate contemplation of dharmas does not make dharmas empty by contemplation itself, but dharmas themselves are emptiness. That which is without characteristics does not make dharmas without characteristics, but dharmas themselves are without characteristics. That which is without aspiration does not make dharmas without aspiration, but dharmas themselves are without aspiration," and so on, it is extensively explained. Therefore, things do not arise from their own nature. If, in ultimate truth, dharmas are unborn, but in conventional truth, they will arise from others. If it is not so, then in conventional truth also there is no arising, therefore it will not become two truths. Although in ultimate truth there are no two truths, nevertheless, in name, conventional truth is also the method for realizing ultimate truth, and without analyzing arising from others, it is acknowledged based on worldly customs. Like this: Because these things are analyzed, one cannot find the other shore from the reality of suchness, therefore one should not analyze the truth of worldly terms. Because these things, such as form and feeling, arise from themselves? Or from others?
