Like the fragrance of champaka flowers and lotuses, it first focuses on its own support, and later, like seeing it on sesame seeds, etc., from encountering it. Therefore, if the eye is the nature of seeing, then for what reason does the eye not grasp itself? Since the eye does not see itself, it is not established to see others either. Some Sutra followers think that the eye alone does not have the ability to see, but that the three, the eye, form, and consciousness, must come together to see form. This idea is meaningless. Because the eye does not have the consciousness that grasps form, because it is the nature of inanimate objects. Consciousness also does not have the nature of seeing form, because it is not a form. Neither seeing nor consciousness is present in form, because it is not the nature of thought and is the nature of not seeing. Thus, the senses, objects, and consciousness are not complete with each other in the matter of seeing form. Therefore, how can they see form even when they come together? Because they do not have the components of seeing form, like a gathering of blind people. When analyzed in this way, if seeing form is not established, then which person will say that they see form? Second, refuting what is heard. Just as that person is not suitable for seeing form, they are also not suitable for hearing sound, because just as seeing form is not possible, hearing sound is also not possible. For example, when hearing a sound, does one hear it by going to the place where it is heard, or by not going to the place where it is heard? If it is the former, then does it emit sound and go to the place where it is heard, or does it go without sound? If it emits sound and goes to the place where it is heard, then for what reason does that sound not become the speaker? Therefore, since it is not the speaker, it will not become sound like Devadatta. If it goes to the place where it is heard without speaking, then for what reason does the sound that does not speak give rise to the thought that this is sound? Because it is not the nature of the sound that speaks, it will not be determined to be sound itself. Furthermore, if it grasps sound by encountering the ear, then the first sound is not grasped by the ear, nor is it grasped by other senses, so which sense grasps the sound? Therefore, the meaning that has not been grasped should not be sound itself. Sound is the four elements and

I (referring to sound) am the nature of the four changes, sound itself, and the nine substances. If it is not singular, how can it grasp mere sound? And it will also grasp smells and so on, which are inseparable from the collection of sounds, because they also come into contact with the ear faculty just like sound. If the initial sound is not grasped by the faculty, what fault is there? As long as the ear has not heard the sound, the sound will not become sound, because it is not the object of the ear, just like smells and so on. If it becomes sound when heard, then if something that is not the nature of sound initially eventually becomes sound itself, that is unreasonable, just as smells and so on will not eventually become sound itself. Second, refuting the mind's grasping of objects: Just as the faculties do not have the ability to grasp objects, the mind also does not have the ability to grasp objects. In this way, does the mind go to the place of the object and completely cut it off, or does it cut it off without going? If it does not go, then one mind can completely cut off all objects. If it goes, does it go to the place of the object together with the faculties, or does it go alone? Among them, it is impossible to go together with the faculties, because the faculties always exist only in the body, and it would lead to the fault of the body being without faculties. If it goes alone, then what actions such as seeing will the mind, which is separated from the eye and other faculties, do after going to the place of the object? Because it would lead to the fault that the blind and others also have actions such as seeing. If one thinks that this goes to the place of the object and understands the meaning, then at that time, because the objects are infinite, the understanding of meaning is also endless, so it will not return. In that case, wouldn't this life-owner always be without mind or thought? Why wouldn't it become without mind? If it becomes without mind, then being without mind cannot be the self, because it would lead to the fault that pillars and vases also become the self. Therefore, if one analyzes in this way with reason, the faculties, objects, and consciousnesses are without essence, and thus the so-called emptiness of inherent existence is established. Second, refuting that the object that can be grasped is real: Regarding the characteristics of the aggregate of perception, and establishing that it is real, these two. First: If the faculties, objects, etc., are without inherent existence, then
