will arise. The mind stream that is completely subdued by a virtuous mind, when the cooperating proximate cause is near, will give rise to a satisfactory result. If there is no mind, that mind stream will not arise either. Because from the mind arises the stream, and from the stream arises the result, and karma is the precursor of the result, therefore it is neither annihilation nor permanence. If, like the last mind of an Arhat, from a virtuous mind the stream does not continue one after another and ceases, then it will become annihilation. Because from a virtuous mind arises the mind stream with the same cause, and from the stream arises a satisfactory result, therefore it is not annihilation. If the mind does not perish until the result ripens, then it will become permanent. The karma of the nature of a virtuous mind goes before and perishes before the time of the ripening of the result, therefore it is also not permanent. Therefore, even if karma is admitted to be momentary, there is no fault of permanence and annihilation. The ten paths of white karma are the means of practicing Dharma, and the fruit of Dharma in this life or another is the five desirable qualities. As shown above, in explaining the classification of karma, the ten paths of virtuous karma are also explained, namely the three of body and the four of speech. "Speech and action, and not abandoning," and "non-manifestation," etc. The three of mind are explained by "mind and." Thus, these ten paths of white virtuous karma are also the means or cause of practicing Dharma, which has the characteristic of "that is Dharma," which is to subdue oneself well, and to benefit others with loving-kindness. And the ripened fruit of Dharma is to enjoy the five desirable qualities of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch in this life (consider) or in another life. Second, refuting these views: Thus, when some people give answers to debates, others criticize them: If it becomes such an examination, many great faults will arise. If it becomes an examination to avoid the faults of permanence and annihilation of the mind stream in a way similar to the seed stream, then at that time others

From another perspective, there would be immense and countless errors and contradictions. How so? If the seed and the law were the same, just as from a rice seed only rice sprouts and similar kinds of descendants arise, and no dissimilar kinds arise; and from rice sprouts and similar descendants only rice fruits arise, and no dissimilar kinds like neem fruits arise; similarly, from a virtuous mind only a stream of virtuous minds would arise, and no non-virtuous or dissimilar minds would arise. Likewise, for non-virtuous and neutral minds, only similar kinds would arise, and no dissimilar kinds would arise. Desires and the minds of the three realms would only produce similar kinds, and no dissimilar kinds would arise. From a human mind, only a human mind would arise, and no minds of other beings would arise, and so on. If that were the case, then whoever is human would only be human, and whoever is a god would only be a god, which is also unreasonable. Therefore, that examination is not appropriate here. Because if the seed and the law were the same, many great errors would arise, so the examination of seed and law being the same is not appropriate in this context of explaining the relationship of cause and effect. Second, establishing the valid aspect: Whatever examination is spoken of by the Buddhas and Pratyekabuddhas, And the Shravakas, Which is valid here, That shall be thoroughly explained. What is that examination? Like a pledge, similarly, it is not lost, Karma is like a debt. That is the four aspects in the realm, That is also of neutral nature. Here, karma, though destroyed immediately after arising, does not become fruitless because of ceasing. When karma arises, at the very moment of its arising, in the continuum of the doer, a non-associated dharma called "non-loss" arises, which is like a pledge for a debt. Therefore, one should understand non-loss as being like a pledge, and the karma from which non-loss arises should be understood as being like a debt. Just as after establishing a pledge for a debt, even if the wealth is used, the wealth still belongs to the owner of the wealth.
