It is so. In between, take out the previous ones and combine them all alternately. Third, to refute other types of views based on the extremes of before and after, there are two types: refuting views of permanence, etc., and refuting views of having boundaries, etc. The first is divided into general refutation and specific refutation of the permanent self. The first has four parts, the first of which is the refutation of permanence: If that god is that person, then it becomes permanent. The god becomes unborn, because the permanent has no birth. Here, some beings in the human realm perform virtuous deeds and are reborn in the realm of the gods in the future. Although the Blessed One has repeatedly dispelled the darkness of extreme views, other schools have not actually been liberated from the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Why? Because one and different, and both, cannot be analyzed. How so? If the god and the non-god are one, then how can it not be permanent? If the god and the non-god are different, then how can it not be reasonable to become annihilation? If one grasps the aggregates of the god and the non-god, the son of the giver, as one or different in the past and future, then the faults mentioned above will occur. If one thinks that the aggregates of the non-god arise from the previous cause, and the god completely holds the aggregates of the god, so it is the nature of both, then it is said: Even if it is and is not, at the time of Nirvana, one ceases and does not cease. Because the continuum of aggregates is cut off, there is no escape from the extreme of annihilation. Again, if what has ceased will arise, then how is it not permanent? If what has ceased does not arise, then how is it not a nihilist? If the previous non-god ceases and is born as a god in the future, then how is it not permanent? Because even if it ceases, it will arise again. If it becomes unborn, then how is it not annihilation? Because after ceasing, it will never arise. Therefore, because it does not exist, it is reasonable for the unborn to be neither permanent nor annihilated. The state of a thing that arises and remains without decaying is permanence, and decaying after arising is annihilation. Whatever is unborn will not become permanent or annihilated. Therefore, as we wish, it is reasonable that there is neither permanence nor annihilation in the case of truly establishing unbornness, but it is not reasonable for the continuum that you believe in.

If the later deity is the same as the previous person, then it would become permanent. To say that the deity is the person is unreasonable, because one thing would become many different existences. Furthermore, if it is permanent, then the later deity would become unborn, because the permanent has no birth. As it is said (in the *Mūlamadhyamakakārikā*): "Wherever and whenever, Without dependence, there is nothing. Therefore, what is called permanent, In reality, there is nothing at all." Like this, the permanent itself is non-existent, so it cannot be born. Second, refuting impermanence: If the deity and the person are different, then it would become impermanent. If the deity and the person are different, then the lineage would not be reasonable. If the later deity is different from the previous person, then just as a mango tree is not the descendant of a neem tree, the deity and the person would not belong to the same lineage. In this way, the previous person would become impermanent due to death. If the deity and the person are different, then it is not reasonable to belong to the same lineage. The deity and the person belong to the same lineage, so they are not different. Therefore, the previous person is also not impermanent because there is no interruption. Third, refuting both permanent and impermanent: If one part is a deity and one part is a person, then it would become both permanent and impermanent, which is also unreasonable. If this person is transformed into a deity, one part abandoning the person and one part taking the body of the deity, then the part that abandoned the person and took the deity would be the deity, and the part that did not abandon the person would be the person. The part that is the person is permanent because the previous state has not disappeared, and the part that is the deity is impermanent because the previous state has disappeared. In this way, one thing contains both the attributes of the deity and the attributes of the person, which is also unreasonable. Therefore, it is unreasonable to be both permanent and impermanent. Fourth, refuting neither permanent nor impermanent: If both permanent and impermanent are established, (If permanent and impermanent, both are established, then these two verses are missing.) then it is neither permanent nor impermanent, which depends on what you want to establish. If both permanent and impermanent are established, then by negating them, it is neither permanent nor impermanent.
