If not, then other entities do not exist. If the entity of the sprout and other fruits, the entity of the self such as the eye, does not exist in the state of conditions such as heat, then the term 'other entity' from the conditions does not exist. Like this, the fruit, the entity of the eye and so on, depends on the conditions such as heat, and is called the other entity. The fruit, the entity of the self such as the eye, does not exist in the state of conditions such as heat. Because of what reason is it like that? Therefore, what do the conditions such as heat depend on, so that the eye and so on become other entities? They do not become other entities. Therefore, there is no other entity in the conditions, and there is no arising from others. Their nature, that is, the own nature of the conditions such as seeds, does not exist in the state of not being transformed. If it exists, then not relying on them would lead to the fault of the sprout being without cause. Therefore, if there is no entity of the sprout itself in the state of the seed, then the seed is not an entity other than the sprout. Like Maitreya and Near Hidden, only things that exist simultaneously depend on each other and become other, but the seed and the sprout are not like that because they do not exist simultaneously. Therefore, because it cannot be called other, it is unreasonable to say that it arises from others. The second case is, if the conditions such as the eye and color are not directly the cause of the arising of consciousness, but accomplish the action of the arising of consciousness, and the action is combined with the conditions, then it will cause the consciousness to arise. Action combined with conditions does not exist. If action exists, then it combined with conditions will cause consciousness to arise, but action does not exist. Because there can be no action in the consciousness that has already arisen, has not arisen, and is arising. Like this, for the consciousness that has already arisen, there is no action, because what has already arisen cannot arise again. For the consciousness that has not arisen, there is also no action of arising, because it is unreasonable to say that what has not arisen is arising. For the consciousness that is arising, it is also impossible, because there is no consciousness that is arising other than what has already arisen and has not arisen. Therefore, because action combined with conditions does not exist, it is unreasonable to arise from it. If the

If it is said that it arises from actions that do not possess conditions, this is unreasonable, because without possessing conditions, there is no action. When an action does not possess conditions, there is no action that does not possess conditions, because action depends on conditions and becomes causeless without them. Thirdly, if there is no action in that way, then do the conditions themselves become the generators of things? Without action, there is no condition. When there is no action, that which does not possess action is not itself a condition, because the term 'condition' is applied to that which possesses the action of producing a result. If only the condition that possesses action is the generator, then does the possession of action exist, or not? Here, too, add the previous verse. 'Or' is a definitive term, meaning that, according to the manner described above, when there is no action, the condition that possesses action does not exist, or that is precisely the meaning. Therefore, the condition that possesses action is not the generator. If so, what is the need for this detailed analysis of whether a condition possesses action or not? If it is said that, relying on conditions such as the eye, consciousness and so forth arise, so the eye and so forth are conditions, and consciousness and so forth arise from those. Because they arise relying on these, therefore these are called conditions. As long as it does not arise, until then, how are these not conditions? If it is said that, relying on these such as the eye, consciousness arises, so these such as the eye are called the conditions of consciousness. As long as the result, consciousness, does not arise, then how are these such as the eye not its conditions? They would become not conditions, because the name of condition is applied relative to the arising of the result. Just as oil cannot be extracted from sand, it is not reasonable for it to arise from something that is not a condition. Furthermore, if one considers the eye and so forth to be the condition of consciousness, does one consider it to be existent or non-existent? Neither case is reasonable. In the case of non-existence or existence, a condition is not reasonable. If it is non-existent, what would it be the condition of? If it is existent, what does the condition do? In the case of the result, such as consciousness, being non-existent or existent, the eye and so forth are not reasonable as the condition that generates it, for if the result is non-existent, what would it be the condition of?
