So it is. Then, how do the fruits of virtue and non-virtue arise? Within that very illusory dream, the arising of the fruits of virtue and non-virtue is due to conceptual imputation based on desire. This is because of attachment to the characteristics of virtue and non-virtue in the dream appearance. Dreams themselves do not have the inherent power to produce results. So, what is the difference between the appearance of a dream and the state of being awake? There is not even a slight difference between the dream of the sleeping state and the state of being awake. All the phenomena of samsara and nirvana in the waking state are illusory appearances arising from the combination of wind and mind, just like a dream. Therefore, there is no difference between a dream being false and being awake being true. As long as one has not awakened from sleep, the appearance of the dream is also true. Once one is free from the sleep of ignorance, the state of being awake is also false. Therefore, since all phenomena are like dreams, one should meditate on them as illusory, appearing but without inherent existence. The explanation of the expansion of the illusory-like samadhi is twofold: pervading everything with illusion-like qualities and revealing one's own nature. The first is the retinue's inquiry from the perspective of three wonders: Then, all the Tathagatas, such as Akshobhya, were amazed by the teaching of dreams, and astonished by the attainment of the fruits of dreams, and then inquired. To whom did they inquire? The Tathagata, etc. The samaya of body, speech, and mind is the samadhi of Vajrasattva. The Vajrasattva who cuts off its doubts is the Great Vajradhara. Calling to the Bhagavan, they asked: What is this? It is very difficult! What is it? Dreams and phenomena similar to dreams have no essence whatsoever. But this very nature of those phenomena, that is, the attainment of the result, is universally proclaimed. This is truly amazing! For example, it is unreasonable to take space as a basis and meditate on the space that relies on it, because both spaces do not exist as entities. Similarly, it is unreasonable for dreams and phenomena similar to dreams to produce results when they have no essence. The Teacher answered: Then, he said this. Bhagavan

All Tathagatas, that is, the Tathagatas such as Akshobhya. From the Tibetan perspective, space does not possess any phenomena such as vases and cloths, because they do not appear to be different from those. It is also not that it does not possess, because all things, in terms of ultimate truth, are of the nature of space. That space pervades all existing phenomena, therefore it is also understanding all phenomena, and because there is no arrogance in thinking that it abides in the nature of all phenomena, it does not even think of following all. Just as space does not possess all phenomena, similarly, dreams and what arises from the vows of dreams, both the fruits of dreams are without inherent existence, therefore it should be understood that they are not possessed. Just as space understands all phenomena, and although there is no arrogance in wanting to follow all phenomena, it pervades all phenomena, sentient beings should see dreams. Even without the thought of obtaining the fruits of dreams, but merely in name, dreams and what arises from the vows of dreams, both the fruits of dreams are established, therefore it should be understood that dreams and the fruits of dreams are also not unpossessed. For example, just as the nature of space cannot be examined anywhere, and there is no obstruction to walls, etc., and the sense of sight cannot see, the phenomena of dreams and the fruits of dreams should also be known to be the same as space. Thus, after establishing that the phenomena of dreams are without inherent existence by the example of space, establishing that all phenomena are like illusions by the example of dreams, just as dreams and the fruits of dreams are not possessed only in name, it should also be understood that all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana also exist only in name. If dreams and the fruits of dreams are examined, because they have no inherent existence, they are not possessed, similarly, if all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana are examined, because they have no inherent existence, it should be understood that they are not truly established. Therefore, because all phenomena are like dreams, it should be understood that they appear but have no inherent existence, like illusions. Possessing the nature of illusions
