The power of mercury and the mind of enlightenment are unfathomable; the deluded cannot discern them. Therefore, in order to stabilize the mind of enlightenment, the visualization of deities is extensively taught in the union of action seals, such as the fumigation and use of mercury. Awakening to the actions of livestock and excessively consuming the mind of enlightenment is not what the Thus-Gone One taught. Thus it is said. Therefore, relying on seals during recollection is for the purpose of descending the essence from the crown of the head, while relying on seals during samadhi is for the purpose of binding the essence. As long as the supreme, unchanging bliss is not attained, samadhi is weak. Meditating on the form of emptiness cannot bind the essence, but when the supreme, unchanging bliss is attained, because one possesses the power of samadhi, merely meditating on the Great Seal cannot bind the essence. Therefore, abandoning the action seal, it is said that at the ultimate point of enlightenment, one should meditate solely on the Great Seal. In the commentary on 'Supreme Unchanging,' it says: 'For this reason, the Blessed One, even through the union of the two faculties, completely abandons the bliss that arises from external faculties, and until the ultimate point of the mind of enlightenment, the yogi should meditate on the Great Seal, which is merely the appearance of one's own mind.' Thus it is said. The nature of samadhi is: Having meditated in the manner described above, the essence of the elements bound in the body fills the body, and from the supreme, unchanging bliss that arises from the exhaustion of the impurities of the body that generate painful sensations, the mind that grasps, which has the form of all aspects of samadhi, like an imprint, and the mind that appears therein, the grasped, without appearing as two, indistinguishably merging into one, the non-dual wisdom is the nature of samadhi. Thus it is said in the 'Stages of Practice': 'With the nature of wisdom and means, by the power of unchanging bliss, samadhi is in the form of wisdom.' Thus it is said. Here, the essence and the unchanging bliss and that which arises from it

The samadhis have different natures and functions, that is, the subtle elements bound to the body eliminate the impurities of the body that cause suffering, such as wind, bile, and phlegm, and make the temporary feeling of the body a single factor that produces only happiness. The feeling of bodily happiness that arises from this is called the supreme and unchanging happiness, which is the factor that produces the nature of the aforementioned samadhi. The non-dual wisdom of samadhi that arises from this is called the supreme and unchanging happiness by naming the fruit with the name of the cause. It itself is the real antidote that eliminates all obscurations. It is said: In the chapter on wisdom, it says: It is only the appearance of the mind, arising in one's own mind, just like the image in a mirror. Whatever is relied upon by all the sons of the conquerors and the Buddhas, the yogi should also rely upon. The flame of wisdom is extremely blazing, it burns all the armies of demons including the land. Having abandoned attachment to the body, etc., through years of practice, it gives equal happiness to the yogis. Thus it is said. This is also called the Prajnaparamita, the Great Seal, the True Wisdom, the Wisdom Light, and the Fourth Empowerment. It itself is the antidote that makes the five aggregates, the twelve ayatanas, and the eighteen dhatus without obscurations, while the subtle elements bound to the body only eliminate the impurities of the body as described above, and produce unchanging happiness. It cannot make the material elements of the body disappear, nor can it eliminate the impurities of the mind. For example, the mercury of alchemy eliminates the impurities of iron and turns it into gold, but it cannot make the material elements disappear. Therefore, those who wish to make the body an unobstructed illusory body by attaching subtle elements to the body, and to make the mind free from obscurations, are unreasonable, because matter cannot eliminate the obscurations of the mind. The meaning of the word is: Because it abides single-mindedly in the suchness of non-duality, it is called samadhi. The time of attainment is: When the subtle elements of the vajra jewel tip solidify, one of the twenty-one thousand six hundred winds stops.

One obtains a single moment of immutable bliss. The measure of completion is: when twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths cease, one obtains that many moments of immutable bliss. The benefit is: having attained samadhi, if one practices diligently and continuously for three years and three months, one will become a Bodhisattva abiding on the irreversible ground, because one possesses the qualities of the ten powers, etc. As it is said in the Sadhana: "Then, through the purity of samadhi for a few days and nights, the wisdom body will be accomplished." And in its commentary: "Therefore, through the purity of samadhi, becoming stainless, that is, for a few days and nights, the days and nights of three years and three months, the wisdom body will be accomplished." This means that one will become a Bodhisattva who has attained the ten powers, etc. Why are following after mindfulness and samadhi called the Yoga of the Vajra Mind? Because these two yogas are the means of accomplishing the wisdom of immutable bliss. On the path, because the habituation of that wisdom is perfected, thereby completely abandoning the obscurations of the mind, therefore, in the fruition, in order to manifest the nature of great bliss, the Vajra Mind, which is free from all obscurations, following after mindfulness and samadhi are called the Yoga of the Vajra Mind. These six limbs of union are also composed of the truth of the path, which is the nature of the path of both mundane and supramundane. Therefore, in the fruition, although the qualities of these increase, the substance completely ceases. Even so, some unwise people claim that these six limbs are permanent and stable, and they hold to false conceptions about what is not real. Such ignorance is not the subject of debate for the wise. Here it is said: Who recognizes a child as a child? Therefore, the child is wise. The child who presumes to be wise is truly a child. The second general topic is the common determination, which is divided into two: division and collection. The first has three parts: division into the five paths, division into the five eyes, and division into the twelve grounds. The first is: the yogi who has entered the Vajrayana commonly...
