Although you have many works, You have not composed a mountain dharma before, Please compose a mountain dharma. It is said that your hand is also uncomfortable, Handwriting is too much of a burden, Please speak and we will write. For the mandala composed in this way, I offer the one who holds the glorious crown, The blessed golden footprint, And the volumes of Dharma you have written. I offer and prostrate nine times. I also offer one hundred and eight mandalas. At that time, Raga Asya said to, Hehe, Tsondu Gyatso, The essence of the mountain dharmas spoken by the Kagyu masters is, To abandon the affairs of this life, In the mountains away from home, (24) Being frightened by impermanence and death, Being stingy with food, clothing, and speech, Drinking water, chewing stones, wearing ragged clothes, Doing nothing but guarding the nature of one's own mind. Doing nothing but reciting the three lines of the Guru's supplication. Doing nothing but waiting for the Lord of Death to come. If a benefactor appears, Like a wild animal not being seen by people, Fleeing to empty and uninhabited places. This is the mountain dharma of the Kagyu masters. For a healthy, wind-carried practitioner, I cannot do that, So I have stayed in this birthplace for a long time, The name of the land is also called Mila. Surrounded by relatives, patrons, and monks, I have not stayed alone for one night. I was sold to the monastery at the age of eight, Now I have herds of horses and cattle. Because death has not pierced my heart, So the caves and sacred places are like houses. Therefore, I cannot compose a mountain dharma. If I imitate the teachings of the Kagyu (25), Writing it will be ridiculed by those who are familiar with it. It's like the words spoken by the mouth being ridiculed by the nose. Who would believe the Dharma talk that has not been personally experienced? Therefore, I cannot compose a mountain dharma. After Tsondu Gyatso said this, He thought for a day, And prayed again: Lama Raga Asya, you, Ordained as a monk from a young age, holding the precepts, Relied on many large and small Lamas, Proficient in the empowerments, transmissions, and instructions of the new and old traditions, Even when performing village rituals in his youth, He performed countless recitations and practices in the meantime, After that, for thirteen years, He completed his vows of practice. From many treasure troves and sky dharmas, He received prophecies of fortunate Dharma lords. Traveling in all directions for seven years

O, Dondrup Gyal! Many great and small prostrate and respect you. Now, please make a vow to enter retreat. Please grant the mountain dharma that combines your previous experience. Because even if I talk about more than these ascetic practices (26), etc., I cannot practice them. That sacred dharma that cannot be practiced, Is just a heavy burden of scriptures. Please impart the key points that can definitely be practiced. Having said that, Ra Ga A Syadewa said: "The days are short, and there are many things to practice, Like the basis of entertainment such as mountain dharma, I haven't even looked at a single scripture, There are many rituals, repelling, and visualization sequences, Although there is no time to think, But in each evening break, The words spoken immediately as they came to mind, By Lama Tsondu Gyatso, With the faith that it is profound dharma, In the cold wind of the thin-clothed New Year, Wore the great armor of patience, The finger rides on the horse of the wind, Wrote it all down in the order it was said. It was written down in order. Because there is no quotation of sutras and tantras, Therefore, the wise will not watch or listen. However, I think that the sutras and treatises, Do not contradict anything that is measured. Because there is no lofty talk, Therefore, those who have not attained realization (27) will not watch or listen. However, I think that in the place of making mistakes, There is no fault of falling. Because there is no poetic rhetoric, Therefore, the elements of writing are incomplete, But I think it is beneficial to the mind. If you practice these properly, Even if you don't become a so-called accomplished one, But I think you will walk on the path to enlightenment. Therefore, for ink, paper, and pen, I wrote it down without being stingy. In the oral instructions of the mountain retreat, The opening part is the first part. Namo Guru. Lama Tsondu Gyatso, you, If you are determined to go to the mountains, If you are determined to take the essence from the human body, If you are determined to make the human body meaningful, If you are determined to have no regrets at the time of death, If you are determined not to fear death, If you are determined to have no bardo, If you are determined to accomplish the happiness of the next life, If you are determined to go from happiness to happiness, If you are determined to accomplish the wish for eternal happiness, If you are determined to attain ultimate Buddhahood (28), Please keep my heart words in mind. In hundreds of millions of kalpas, There is only one chance to obtain a human body. This time is one chance in a hundred years, Please make the human body meaningful. In countless kalpas, There is not even the sound of the Buddha's dharma, This time is a fortunate kalpa.
