At leisure, the noble one, through miraculous power, made that woman, who had died from falling, her body decaying, some of her internal organs and other impure things, visible from the outside like glass. The retinue therefore felt disgusted and developed the perception of impurity, placing the Arhat in the state of freedom from outflows. For the sake of the noble one, the attendants ate the leftovers from the begging bowl. There was a dog who listened to the true Dharma, and when it died, through the merit of hearing the Dharma, it was born as the master of half of the evil demon's throne. The dog was also placed on par with me, thinking: This is truly an insult to my supreme self! Arrogance and jealousy arose towards the noble one. The demon said: I will make offerings to you. As he tied a garland of flowers on his head, I said: I will give flowers as a return gift. Transforming the dog's corpse into a garland of flowers, he destroyed the demon's necklace manifestation, causing the celestial body, which was clean and pure, to have the dog's decaying, maggot-eaten, foul-smelling corpse hanging on its neck, experiencing unbearable suffering. Let alone his own power and miraculous abilities, even Brahma and the great Ishvara, and all the other gods, no matter how much they prayed, no one was able to remove it. The Arhat's blessing cannot be destroyed, so he said: Pray to him! He came before the noble one and prayed for it to be removed. I said: In the past, I did much harm to the fully enlightened Buddha, but he never retaliated. You Shravakas are so malicious, look at how arrogant this playful response is. The noble one said: I and the teacher, cannot be destroyed into dust and Mount Meru. Although that is so, I have seen the Dharma body aspect of the teacher, but I have not seen the form body. Evil one, you say you can transform the Victorious One's body into an image, show it to me. The noble one vowed not to prostrate, and the demon transformed the Sage's body into an image, shining like a golden mountain. The noble one perceived it as the actual teacher, and as he began to prostrate, the manifestation disappeared. From now on, if you do not obstruct virtuous deeds, this will be blessed as a garland of flowers. If an evil thought arises, may the dog's corpse, (ག༣༡ན) become rotten! Thus he spoke the truth. Thereafter, out of fear, he took refuge in the Buddha's teachings.

It is said that demons cannot create obstacles within it. The cave in the Uśīra (place name) rock is twenty bow-lengths in mouth width, depth, and height. Each student who attained Arhatship threw a four-finger-length tooth-wood. The pile of tooth-wood filled that cave like a mound. When they passed into Nirvana and became Arhats, that pile of tooth-wood was cremated, and the gods made offerings. He entrusted the teachings to Dhītika, who entrusted them to Kṛṣṇa, who entrusted them to Sudarśana. It is said in the scriptures that there are seven generations of teaching transmission. One hundred and ten years after the passing of the Teacher, after King Aśoka (304-232 BCE) had reigned for ten years, the Arhat Ghoṣa, with a retinue of five hundred, arrived at the monastery in Vaiśālī. There, the monks who were originally residing were mostly sharing the gains they had acquired. Upon inquiry, it was learned that they were practicing the ten unlawful things. I thought, 'If I abandon this bubble in the Buddha's teachings, it will not do.' So I sought out many wise Arhats who possessed desires and wealth, etc., as friends. As soon as the moon rose and they had arisen from cessation meditation, the gods descended, and seven hundred Arhat disciples of the venerable Ānanda gathered. King Aśoka became the patron. The Arhats, led by the Arhat Alala, established six rules, stipulating what could be done and what could not be done. Through questions and answers, these rules were finally determined. 'Who is practicing these ten unlawful things?' We all unanimously declared that we would abandon them. The three baskets were recited completely without omission or addition. This is known as the correct recitation by the seven hundred, or the Second Council. Since there is no mention of the Third Council in the Vinaya, there are many different opinions. However, in the Madhyamaka treatises that blaze with the fire of reasoning, the Tathāgata prophesied in the sutras that during the time of King Joyful and King Lotus, a sinful demon named Good, would become someone wearing the guise of a mendicant. He would use various magical powers to transform the minds of beings, disrupting the Buddha's teachings and the Sangha. His disciples, Nāga and Mati, would spread it widely, leading to inconsistent views and practices, ultimately causing the division of the eighteen schools of the Śrāvakas. I will briefly relate this account. Also, the *Different Schools* by Vasubandhu.
