It is. The appearance of the waking state is: the mind-nature tainted by habitual tendencies from beginningless time, is the illusion of grasper and grasped. The result is also the same in that both have the ability to produce the effects of attachment, hatred, happiness, and suffering, so there is no difference. Thus, mix all present appearances together and rest. Niguma said: When one wakes up from sleep, meditate that there is no difference between the previous dream and the illusory appearance of waking. Thus it is said. Fourth, the clear light is: immediately after the habitual tendencies of previous practice, visualize the lama Vajradhara on the lotus and moon seat on your crown as before. (581) Dissolve the refuge. Think that it possesses the four bodies and five wisdoms, and is the nature of blessings. Praise and pray as much as you can. Pray that the precious lama will abandon self-grasping. Pray that unnecessary things will arise in the lineage. Pray that clear light will be mastered. After praying in this way, receive the four empowerments, or simply dissolve them into yourself. From the secret place where your own innate bliss is clear as before, up to the Brahma aperture, visualize the central channel as red and clear, empty like a reed tube. Four fingers below the navel, inside the central channel (582), visualize the essence of your own mind, a white "A" shining, clear and bright, with the nature of light. Know that the nature of "A" is unborn, and rest equally in clarity and emptiness, without grasping. Also, between your brain and skull, visualize the white selfless mother, holding a curved knife and a small skull cup, from the white "A" in her heart, light radiates and purifies all the brain without any object of focus. The skull is the palace of the bone chamber, the nature of light, white and shimmering, focus your mind on this. Also, in the heart of your own innate bliss consort, visualize the lama Vajradhara, holding a vajra and bell crossed at his heart, the essence of a mercury-like clear drop, with the nature of bliss. From the white Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།,Sanskrit Devanagari: हूँ,Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ,Chinese literal meaning: 吽) in his heart, light radiates (583) and makes the lama's body clear. Visualize that light radiates from the lama, making yourself clear as abiding in the form of the yidam. Focus on this. If you can always practice all three clear light visualizations, that is best, if not, practice the first and last two, or focus on the "A".

That's enough. Regarding transference of consciousness (phowa), visualize yourself clearly as the innate wisdom at the crown of your head, on a precious throne supported by lions, upon a lotus and moon cushion. Meditate on the Lama Vajradhara as before, thinking, "You know, you understand." And visualize your body and all your possessions as an inconceivable cloud of offerings, offering them through mental creation. Pray that the precious Lama will bless you to relinquish self-grasping (584), to sever unnecessary continuities, and to accomplish the supreme path of transference of consciousness. Thus, pray. Visualize your own mind as a white "Ah" in the center of your heart. Generate fervent devotion towards the Lama, visualizing the aperture at the crown of your head as if it has opened. With the appearance of the Lama saying, "Child of lineage, come up!", your mind, that "Ah", ascends within the central channel like a bird flying, and dissolves into the Lama's heart. Remain without grasping in the state of the Lama and your own mind mingled. Whenever applying it to practice, as soon as your mind dissolves into the Lama's heart, visualize the Lama instantly ascending into the high sky and arriving in Akanishta. And say that you will settle your mind in an inexpressible state. It is not necessary to do this continuously now. (585) Again, your mind, that "Ah", emerges from the heart, descends from the crown through the central channel, and arrives at your heart. Visualize the aperture at the crown of your head closing like the nozzle of a water pipe, becoming firm and stable, and either absorb the Lama at the crown into yourself, or remain in a state of non-objectification, whichever is comfortable. Regarding the practice of the bardo: Again, meditate on the Lama at the crown as before, and pray for blessings to relinquish self-grasping, to sever unnecessary continuities, and to attain Buddhahood as the five families of Buddhas in the bardo. Thus, pray. After the Lama dissolves into you, think, "Ah, I have died. My body is now the mental body of the bardo. Food, clothing, shelter, and so on, all of this is the appearance of the bardo (586)." Meditate that all appearances are unreal, like dreams and illusions. In front of you, visualize your mind as the syllable Hūṃ in a dark blue triangular dharmodaya. From that Hūṃ, five-colored light radiates, purifying the karma and defilements of the four births, encompassing the three times of past, present, and future. When that Hūṃ is completely transformed, you appear as the deities of Chakrasamvara in union, and all appearances of male and female objects of attachment and aversion also transform into the forms of Chakrasamvara and Vajravarahi. All sounds are the sounds of mantras.
