For diseases, visualize purifying with white, red, and yellow nectars; for evil spirits, visualize purifying with wrathful water, fire extinguishers, and weapons. At the end of everything, abide in non-objectification. The Guru Yoga is: one's own body as the deity, on the crown of the head in the clear and empty space, visualize the form of the root (767) Guru, or visualize Vajradhara, whichever is comfortable, offer the seven-branch offering, earnestly pray with the four supplications, and finally receive the three empowerments. The Guru merges into oneself, abide in the natural state of reality, and dedicate the merit. This completes the uncommon preliminary practices. The two common key points are also in the main practice: the preliminary is the three self-arising, the main practice is the four faults naturally liberated, and the subsequent is the guidance of the three bodies naturally arising. First, the self-arising also has: the guidance of settling the mind and searching for the mind, or it is also called the guidance of shamatha and vipassana. First, after doing one 'Jurwa' of refuge, bodhicitta, and Guru Yoga, the body abides in the seven dharmas of Vairochana, the speech is merely eliminating breath (768), remaining in a natural state. The mind is not focused on external objects, nor is it tense inward, but rather abides in a natural state, this is the root. From that, observe the sudden arising of thoughts, completely cut them off, observe their nature, observe their dissipation and gathering, and whatever becomes the key point of grasping them with mindfulness, do that. At this time, whether sadness, displeasure, the disappearance of joy, etc., arise, do not modify, negate, or affirm them, but rather observe their nature, and by cultivating in this way, the nature of mind will eventually become naturally clear. In those processes, learn the way of observing: up, down, front, back, left, right, and then make distinctions of near and far, there are ten in total. After that, learn to recite mantras and read scriptures, mantras and scriptures are divided into short and long. Learn conduct: eating, speaking (769) outward, listening inward, similarly, walking should be slow and rhythmic, sleeping, being alone, in the midst of crowds, all should maintain the nature of mind without distraction, and make this the root of virtuous practice. The above is the guidance of shamatha, which makes the mind abide. The second is the guidance of vipassana, which searches for the mind. First, perform refuge, bodhicitta, and Guru supplication as before, then maintain the three self-arising states, do not focus too forcefully, but rather observe the nature of the mind more, and by meditating in this way, one day you will recognize that the reality of the mind is awareness and emptiness.

Something beyond expression arises. This is called the auspicious union. This is like the root of all mind searching. Depending on the individual's capacity, various experiences and realizations will arise (770). Furthermore, just as one looks inward at the essence of the mind, by carefully examining its shape, color, and whether visible, audible, and tangible things are established, one determines its empty nature, without making assumptions. Likewise, how the internal and external parts of the body, and forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects exist, and if they do not exist, then what is the mind that appears as mere awareness, should be carefully examined. Also, does this mind arise or cease? What are the characteristics of thoughts and the characteristics of external appearances? By carefully studying these, one determines that the essence of the mind is free from arising, ceasing, and abiding. These are called the instructions on the higher seeing of mind searching. The second point is the direct introduction to the four faults, so that they are naturally liberated. First, offer a mandala and pray to the lineage lamas (771), then settle into the correct posture and gaze, and then the direct introduction. Too close to not recognize, too profound to grasp, too easy to believe, too good to comprehend, these four faults need to be eliminated. The first is, not recognizing the essence of the mind, awareness emptiness dawns as bliss, which has never been separated from beginningless samsara. Furthermore, just as branches obscure the trunk, due to clinging, just as the eye cannot see itself, due to the power of ignorance, one does not recognize one's own nature. It's like a person mingling with a pack of wolves, or a Geshe hearing a lot of books, but becoming blind. We ourselves, through the blessing of the lama, our own devotion, and transforming the key of the instructions into inner, these three truly recognize the above-mentioned (772) mind, thereby liberating from the fault of being too close to not recognize. The second is, the mind itself dawns as clear emptiness without grasping, which is an interruption. In general, in all times and circumstances, the luminous nature of the mind always exists, unchanging. Especially during sleep and male-female intercourse, it also exists, but because it is not recognized, therefore here relying on the introduction of the lama, thereby understanding this state. Because it is too profound to
