Impossible. Furthermore, there is no self outside the aggregates, nor does the self reside within the aggregates. Each individual aggregate is not the self, and there is no self in the space left after removing the aggregates. There is also no self in the totality of the aggregates, because a totality separate from each individual does not exist. Therefore, what is called "self" is merely a conceptual imputation, simply a reversed illusion (640). There is nothing that exists inherently, so meditate in this way. This is the thirty-third object of focus. In short, the meditation on the selflessness of the person can be divided into several parts of the object of focus according to the capacity of the mind. Now, the selflessness of phenomena is taught, and phenomena refer to the aggregates, elements, and sources. If these were not merely conceptual imputations, but there could be a self-sufficient entity, then that would be the self of phenomena. However, such a thing is impossible, so all phenomena are without a self of phenomena. Even so, from beginningless samsara, in order to purify the conceptualization (641) that grasps the aggregates, elements, and sources as being self-established, it is necessary to meditate on the selflessness of phenomena. Among these, first, one must meditate on the aggregates of one's own continuum as being without inherent existence. And first of all, looking at the form aggregate, the body, which is included in one's own continuum, one gives a general name called "body" to what appears to be an assembly of various things, and one thinks that there is an entity corresponding to the name. Apart from being grasped by a reversed conceptualization, it is not established in this way. First, this body has different faculties such as the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and body. The internal organs (642) that are the basis of the faculties, which are not the same as the faculties, are also different. Head, neck, chest, back, waist, stomach, abdomen, two shoulders, two arms, two elbows, two wrists, two palms, two hips, two calves, two ankles, internal organs such as the five viscera and six bowels, and nine orifices, etc., think that this is an aggregate composed of various parts. Therefore, what is called "body" is not truly existent apart from conceptual imputation. If each of these were the body, then there would be many bodies. If each one is not, then (643) the body cannot be found. If one thinks it is merely an assembly, then there is no assembly apart from each one.

Therefore, it has become nothing more than a mere designation. The fifty-fourth point of contemplation is concluded. Furthermore, this body, which is composed of the aggregate of form, is not truly established. It is divided into nine parts: four limbs, upper and lower body, head, chest, abdomen, internal organs, and so on. Is each form established or not established? Each one is divided into three parts, and so on. If you think that each part is true, it is not true, because it is further divided into finger joints. If you think that each finger joint is established, it is not established, because each one is divided into seven (644) barleycorns. Even each of those is not true, because seven barleycorns eventually become the size of a louse, and then dust motes in sunlight, cattle dust, sheep dust, rabbit dust, water dust, and iron dust. Because the length of the former is divided into seven parts, it becomes the size of the latter. If you think that each iron dust is true, it is not true, because the length of an iron dust has seven atoms. It is not established there either, because each atom has seven minute particles. If you add up all the length, area, width, and height of these sevenfold divisions, because the former is split, there are three hundred and forty-three (645) of the latter. Since there are seven in length, it is the same in area, so it becomes forty-nine. It is the same in height as well, because there are also seven. The fifty-fifth point of contemplation is concluded. If you think that each minute particle is truly established, it is not established, because each one appears as one direction, and one part looking up and down, so six parts in total. And there must also be a central part, because if there is no central part, it is impossible to start looking east, west, and so on. Therefore, if each of these seven parts is divided in the same way, then it is also not established. Thus, by dividing infinitely, there is no end. Therefore, what is called the body is nothing more than a designation, and is not established in its state (646) of being. Therefore, the mere appearance is unceasing, like an illusion, but its nature is not established anywhere from the beginning. Therefore, these things are not established as one. Since it is not established as one, it will not be established as many either, because many must be established from accumulating many things that are established as one. The fifty-sixth point of contemplation is concluded. If you think that the aggregate of form is not true, but the mind is true, if you analyze the mind, the consciousness that mainly sees forms and hears sounds, and so on.
