Like the sun's rays, virtues naturally manifest. Like clouds, stains can be suddenly removed. Entering into equipoise is the purification of afflictive and cognitive obscurations. Although there are many yogas of form as methods of purification, the three types of beings—womb-born, egg-born, and moisture-born—are purified by generating the five manifest enlightenments, the four vajras, and the three ritual generations. The miraculously born are purified by instantaneous recollection and complete generation. Although scholars offer many different explanations, it suffices to understand that, in brief, there is no contradiction. From the initial cultivation of manifest realization up to the stages of gathering, although the order of rituals varies, the basis for purification is the very essence of the Sugata. The object of purification is the delusion from the moment a child's consciousness enters the womb until birth and death. Although the order of new and old rituals differs, the purification of the stains of afflictive delusions is the same. For example, eye diseases (page 257) are mainly treated with a golden needle. Filling the cheeks with hot, cold, cool, warm, etc., requires different remedies for different diseases. Similarly, the number of objects to be purified corresponds to the methods of purification. Just as eye diseases are treated with a golden needle or healed with medicine, eliminating eye pain is the same. Although the order of new and old rituals differs, there is no difference in purifying afflictive conceptualizations. To briefly summarize the method of purification through rituals: Meditating on "de ting" purifies the previous death state. Meditating on "kun ting" purifies the mind-body of the intermediate state. Meditating on the cause-state, the lotus, sun, and moon seat, purifies the white and red essence and blood of the parents, which are the basis of the body. Meditating on the seed syllable purifies the entry of consciousness. Transforming the hand gestures and meditating on the seed syllable again, meditating on burning like fire, like a mirror, like a circle, etc., and meditating on the complete form purifies the formation of the body and birth. Blessing the three places purifies the habitual tendencies of the three doors. The five manifest enlightenments are the method of purifying the womb-born. Apply this analogy to others as well. From some of the highest secret mantra tantras, the vajra-holder of the cause purifies the clear light of the death state (page 258), and the vajra-holder of the result purifies the attainment of the intermediate state. From the secret space, the three—semen, fine particles, and wind—are dispersed. The habitual tendencies of the mixture purify the basis of the body. The three syllables gradually dissolve, purifying the three—appearance, increase, and attainment. The bindu purifies the appearance of white and red, etc. Although there are many, understanding just this much is enough to understand them all. Wisdom enters into delusion.

Training to abandon evil deeds and habits. Training to abandon the enjoyment of empowerments, blessings, and paternal inheritance. Training to abandon the enjoyment of offerings, praises, and confessions to the land. Training to abandon idle talk with the recitation and practice of mantras. Training to abandon the intermediate state of existence by arising as a deity after the death state of that gathering stage. Not elaborating, this is just a brief overview. Refuge and bodhicitta in the beginning, dedication and aspiration at the end, are indispensable on the Mahayana path. Offerings, blessings, the wheel of accumulation, etc., are effortless branches for perfecting the two accumulations. ༈ That which is to be trained is the essence of the Sugata. The Vajra's marks and signs reside in the clear and complete Sambhogakaya. By using a form similar to it as the path, the deity's form, which is the result of training, exists in the ground. When the ultimate result (259) is free from manifestation, it is said to attain the state of Vajradhara. ༈ No matter how you meditate on the generation stage, whether extensively or concisely, train to abandon attachment to the objects of appearance by clarifying the form. With pure mindfulness, be free from the grasping of names with obstacles. With steadfast pride, destroy ordinary ego-grasping. Therefore, first, the head, hands, feet, etc., clarify each one individually. After becoming somewhat accustomed, meditate on clarifying the entire body through the path. Even when meditating, if the mind is unstable and thoughts wander, focus awareness like Vajrapani. If agitated, focus on the lotus posture; if dull, focus on the jewel of the crown. Meditate by focusing awareness like a jewel. Then, even if thoughts do not wander too much, if the form is unclear and seems murky, display a well-crafted and brightly colored thangka or clay image in front of your eyes. Look at it for a long time without wandering thoughts. Immediately generate your own body in that form. This will enhance the previous meditation. ༈ Even if you remember each pure aspect individually, it is still an addition of mental calculations and thoughts. For beginners, it causes unclear (260) distractions. Therefore, the deity's form is like a rainbow, empty and clear. The one who creates it is your own mind. The nature of mind is primordially empty, without root. To show the qualities and distinctions of that, meditate that the forms of faces, hands, mudras, and ornaments appear. ༈ If you do not cultivate pride, you will cut off the root of self-grasping. When self-grasping is destroyed, wherever the mind rests, it will clearly appear in its essence. Thus, by diligently meditating on the generation stage, the ability to manifest reality arises during meditation.
