Thoughts appear as companions. Mind, let the mind be an impartial wanderer! (303) As soon as you become an impartial wanderer, Like snowflakes falling into the ocean, Discursive thoughts are directly cut off. Thus he spoke. To the master himself, thirteen disciples of Dagpo said they wanted to practice Mahamudra that is not harmed by discursive thoughts, and he spoke these words. For the Dharma nature that is without birth and death, What meaning does the term 'discursive thought' have? Non-discrimination and discrimination, View them as water and water bubbles. Thus he spoke and so on. They therefore realized that discursive thoughts are without root or basis. A Geshe from Lhopu said that no matter which Yidam he practiced, he wanted to ask for a method to see the face of the Yidam, and he spoke these words. Abandon worldly affairs, With unwavering faith without doubt, Visualize the deity's form clearly and meditate without discrimination. Do not speak endless empty words, (304) Recite the sound-emptiness mantra. If you do so, the deity's form, You will see it quickly, without a doubt. Thus he spoke, and he developed great conviction. After practicing for three months, he saw the face of Tara. Also, in the "Oral Biography," it says that one summer there was a great famine, and the hungry people in the village discussed that they must ask the Lama to issue a decree. Because of my (referring to the author himself) offerings and the destruction by the monks, The protector yak watched over the village. The monks seemed to be engaging in the Yellow Army (referring to the armed forces composed of monks), One day, through collective labor, everyone gathered together, Wore the initial poisonous robe, Carrying the scripture bag on his back, he said these words. Having asked the Lama who is skilled in the path, There appeared an expert skilled in the path. Having entrusted the mind to the excellent Dharma, There appeared someone who could offer suggestions. Having cut off the mind's own additions and slanders, There appeared someone who developed conviction. Whatever is done is in accordance with the excellent Dharma, There appeared someone whose virtuous deeds increased. Having given victory to other beings, There appeared someone with a broad mind. Not clinging to the thoughts of others, clinging to one's own thoughts, There appeared someone who did not care about saving face. Wherever he stayed, he acted as a guest, There appeared someone whose attachment decreased. Having attributed failure to the stomach and back, There appeared someone whose body and mind were relaxed. Singing this song, he fled to the mountains, The monks stopped the Yellow Army action. The protector yak also came back.

And we. From the face of the Great Compassionate One (306): That great flame of hatred, Was cooled by the water of love. Very good, yogi! Cyclic existence and nirvana are the root of attachment and aversion. Yogi, please abandon attachment! So it was said. Thereafter, he observed a retreat during the Horse month, not eating human food. Without empowerment, the light of luminosity spread forth. He came to know all the actions of all the monks, And all the good and bad of the first and last parts of their lives. With compassion and sympathy, he gave advice to each according to what was appropriate, and most of them developed certainty and perfected their virtuous practice. However, there were many who did not listen, who boasted and bragged, and who made offerings to the lama, so he went back to his home, intending to start a family, thinking that if I did not meet him at the time of death, I would not go back to my home. But he did not listen to the advice, and I became weary, so I took hold of his (307) hand and sang this song: The Buddha is the ancestor of sentient beings, The sacred Dharma is the common wealth of sentient beings. If an unbeliever makes a division, He is a heartless one who has lost his share of wealth. The root of the Buddhas of the three times, Is surely the lama with the lineage. To the one who fulfills the needs and desires of this and future lives, The heartless one who has no devotion. To the remainder of the days that are fully exhausted, Without exerting tireless diligence, With selfless compassion that is never satisfied, The heartless one who spends his life in vain. Awareness is like a little monkey on a treetop, The summons of the Lord of Death and Mara will come. He will go upon the karma accumulated in the past, The heartless one who commits evil. The aggregates are a vessel of suffering with defilements, (308) The place of all birth, old age, sickness, and death. To the body that will be discarded like a clay pot, The heartless one who always hopes. To food and wealth that are illusory in nature, Without using them for the benefit of oneself and others, With the stinginess of past familiarity, The heartless one who cannot bear to part with them. To the disturbance of the demon of conceptual thought, Without looking at the exhortation of the nature of reality, Fearing the separation of body and mind, The heartless one who makes a futile effort to hold on. To the secret mantra that accomplishes all actions, Without meditating on the four sessions without distraction, In endless idle talk, The heartless one who lets time pass. To the mind itself, the wish-fulfilling jewel, Without meditating on the inseparable three bodies, Like a wild animal chasing a mirage, The heartless one who vainly pursues words. Cho
