Therefore, I pray that you become the friend of the three realms. Here, I ask you, the all-knowing one, to be my witness. Protector, you possess wisdom without obscurations, you know my excellent intention. In front of the noble one, I have made a vow, I will not break it, Protector, I will not deceive you. From now on, I will forever abandon attachment to benefits and fame, as well as hypocrisy and disturbing thoughts. I will focus solely on accomplishing the benefit of others, abiding in this mind (684), I will begin the great yogic practice. I generate the supreme bodhicitta towards the unsurpassed Samantabhadra. From now on, I will properly uphold the ultimate and conventional bodhicitta. If all sentient beings were to gather together and cut my body into a thousand pieces, I would not abandon the excellent bodhicitta, wisdom, compassion, as well as the yidam and all the Buddhas. Just as the Buddhas of the past and their retinues, as well as the assemblies of vidyadharas and dakinis, vast as the ocean, upheld the supreme outer, inner, and secret vows and the limitless precepts (685), from now on, I will also enter that great path, and uphold them for the benefit of beings. Originally unborn, pure as the sky, unchanging, spontaneously accomplished, self-arisen luminosity. Truly meditating on the meaning of the uncreated dharmata, in the vast expanse of the dharmakaya, I will uphold the vow of the meaning of Samantabhadra. In the vow of the Tathagata family, upholding the precepts and the Dharma, benefiting sentient beings, and to symbolize the essence of bodhi in myself, I will also hold the object of the Dharma wheel. In the vow of the unchanging Vajra family, not transgressing the meaning of the generation and completion stages of self-nature (686), and with utmost respect for the Vajra master, and to symbolize skillful means and wisdom in myself, I will also hold the object of the vajra and bell. In the vow of the wish-fulfilling Ratna family, accomplishing the benefit of beings with the four kinds of generosity, perfecting the great accumulations of merit and wisdom, and to symbolize the spontaneous accomplishment of qualities in myself, I will also hold the object of the jewel. In the vow of the undefiled Padma family, completely upholding the outer, inner, and secret Dharmas, benefiting beings with immeasurable compassion, and to symbolize the faultless dharmata in myself.

Therefore, I shall hold the pleasing lotus. For the vows of various actions, I shall take the boundless vows of the three vehicles, To symbolize its spontaneous accomplishment, I shall hold the crossed vajra sword. For the vows of the secret mantra vajra vehicle, I shall take everything into the path of union, To symbolize the play of no acceptance or rejection, I shall hold the khatvanga, skull, and hand drum. In short, by which all samsara is purified, Purifying the five aggregates, twelve sources, and eighteen elements, Purifying the six senses, six objects, and afflictions, Accomplishing the five bodies, five wisdoms, and three fives, And the qualities, activities, and objects of the five families (688). Inwardly, the immeasurable ocean of mental conduct, Outwardly, the samaya substances, five desires, and five great methods, The five meats, five nectars, and so on, And the root and branch five vows. To accomplish the supreme vajra, the three of body, speech, and mind, Knowing, not abandoning, accepting, Accomplishing and practicing five each, twenty-five root and branch. From today onwards, I shall keep all the vows of the secret mantra vajra essence. Relying on it, completely purifying samsara, For the benefit of beings, I shall completely uphold the sacred Dharma of peaceful liberation. Not abiding in samsara or peace, entering supreme bodhi (689), Offering to the mandala's sovereign vajra master, And the heroes and yoginis, Diligent in accumulating the boundless ocean of the two accumulations. With loving-kindness, greatly benefiting beings, Not harming, not completely possessing, Not seeking peace for oneself alone, By diligently accomplishing the benefit of others, I shall open the door to liberation for myself and others. Then, reciting the uncommon aspiration: Hung! I shall lead all beings without exception into the boundless great vehicle path, Placing all in supreme bodhi, May I attain the supreme ground of Samantabhadra, the Dharma King! (690) Having entered the path of liberation, the heart of bodhi, Until I reach the supreme state, In whatever life and wherever I am born, May I have wisdom, a noble lineage, and no arrogance, Have supreme loving-kindness, respect the lama, Be skilled in accomplishing the benefit of beings, And greatly please the glorious protector lama.
