Furthermore, it is also said to enhance (practice) with definite understanding. Some also say to enhance (practice) with two immeasurables. In addition to that, one should do this: especially on various appearances, and on the objects of pleasure, pain, love, and hatred, cultivate the intention of illusory body and dream, diligently cultivate non-discrimination, abide without fixity, sit without fixity, and have no fixed rules for walking, staying, sitting, and lying down, and also generate any intention at will, and repeatedly practice. These are external enhancements. Placing the wind-mind in (the central channel), intensely practicing the channels and winds, and sometimes tormenting oneself in the deathless and non-existent, this is internal enhancement. At the end of such two enhancements, a great power of wisdom will arise, and one should generate a definite understanding of this. Recognize this as the kindness of the Guru (476) and make prayers. In this way, one cultivates compassion for enlightened beings. If enhancement is needed, then put effort into this. Fourth, the recognition of the extraordinary arising stage is: in order to explain it in detail separately, there is no need for extensive explanation here. However, there are four arising stages, namely the arising stage of the clear light, the arising stage of non-discrimination, the arising stage of bliss, and the arising stage of union. The first is: the clear appearance of the clear light experience, in which various signs, bodily experiences, and mental experiences appear during sleep. The second is: there are buzzing sounds in the ears, as well as heaviness and pressure. This is the wind-mind entering the central channel. Sometimes there will also be trembling, throbbing, fainting, and separation of limbs. This is the knot of the channels being released. In addition, sometimes there will also be an appearance of consciousness ascending into the sky. Sometimes there will also be trembling in the great clear light of non-discrimination (477). If joy and pride arise towards these, one cannot enhance virtuous actions. If one considers them to be symptoms of illness or demonic obstacles, they will become obstacles, so one should neither like nor dislike them, but cultivate them naturally. The third is: the body and mind appear as bliss and clarity. The fourth refers to the effortless appearance of clear light day and night. The fifth fundamental, the difference between experience and realization day and night, is: when intentionally creating and newly meditating on deities and bindus, etc., whether clear or unclear, it is neither clear light nor the self-arisen deity. Awareness increases

When abiding in such a state, accompanied by the intention of effort, a feeling arises as if the mind is slightly abiding and there is an experience of bliss and clarity. It only appears in the state of being half-awake (478), it is not the actual clear light, but only the cause that leads to clear light. Therefore, no matter which session it is, without deliberately making effort, the self-arisen mind, clear, empty, blissful, arising without discrimination, that is called clear light. Whether it occurs during the day or night, there is no difference. Also, at such times, even if there is no strong desire to create manifest, if the deity's form appears clearly in oneself and externally, that is called the self-arisen illusory body deity. There is no difference between being awake and dreaming. These are just the ramblings of us practitioners, or like the painful complaints of carrying a heavy burden on the mountain. Please, tantric Khenpos and scholars, criticize and correct. If one can have a trustworthy experience on one's own ground, that would be good. Even if criticized, there is no need to be afraid. If one can practice, then for us beginners, whether wise or foolish, there is no need for great difficulty, nor is there a need for long-term (479) dwelling. When obstacles arise, one can also deal with them slightly. It also helps the mind, so one will temporarily feel happy and blissful. The classifications of the illusory body and clear light union of high grounds and paths are not something that we beginners can practice. These practices that are being practiced now will eventually become the powerful causes of those. It is like carefully nurturing a seedling from a young age, and eventually reaping a harvest. Such clear light has two types: the clear light of experience and the clear light of realization. These two can be further divided into the clear light of being awake during the day and the clear light of sleeping at night, so they become four types. The four types can also be divided into two types: with appearance and without appearance, so they become eight types. The four types with appearance can be divided into four types related to external objects and four types unrelated, making a total of eight types. The four types without appearance can be divided into subtle clear light and (480) strong clear light, making a total of eight types. Practicing all of these is sixteen types. If the disciple has arisen experience, the recognition of these will be explained in detail, and the clear light that has arisen in him will be identified. If the disciple has not arisen experience, and various things are mixed together.
