This is necessary. If you say to mix as soon as you have a little experience of bliss, that experience will vanish, so don't do that. If it comes again and is stable, then you need to mix it. If pride and attachment do not manifest, and you just look at the nature of that bliss, while the appearance of bliss has not ceased, without any grasping, relax and let it naturally disappear, it is enough to maintain that. If attachment and arrogance arise, then you should practice contemplating that bliss as illusory, and finally, if you rest in the Great Seal (Sanskrit: Mahāmudrā) that is free from the grasping of illusion, it will transform into indivisible bliss and emptiness. In all of these four stages of mixing, whatever activity you do in the breaks between sessions, you must repeatedly, with the attitude of an elephant, be amazed and simply rest in whatever arises. During meditation, whether it is the experience of non-conceptuality, bliss, or clarity that arises, and at all times when focusing on conceptual objects, it is very important to rest in the same way. In general, during and between sessions, knowing that pain, pleasure, high and low, and all the eight worldly concerns are like illusions, it is most important to break the habit of this worldly chatter about good and bad, high and low, near and far. This is the end of the fifty contemplations. The fourth is the ultimate. First, in any light, whether day or night, at the beginning of the arising of the realization of light, the light of indivisible clarity and emptiness arises. This is the stage of the path of accumulation. Then, the light of indivisible bliss and emptiness arises. This is the stage of the path of joining. Then, the light of profound, peaceful, and free from elaboration arises. It arrives at the stage of the seven impure grounds. Then, the light of ultimate indivisibility arises. This is the stage of the three pure grounds. After that is the light of pure duality, which is the wisdom Dharmakāya of the complete Buddha. The meaning of these (472) would be extensive if explained in detail, but it is not elaborated here. This is generally called light, and it is divided from the way of realizing the meaning of reality, not just distinguishing the light of sleep. Because there is no separate contemplation for this, it is not counted as a range of contemplations. Like a Dharma session, do whatever is appropriate. Third, the subsequent instructions include common and specific vows, dispelling obstacles, naturally eliminating faults, revealing the essence, cutting doubts, identifying the doors of excellent appearances, and the experiences of

Among the five distinctions of day and night, the first is: In general, it is very important that the precepts you have taken from the three vows are not lost. Because those with transgressions will not generate pure meditation, and even those previously generated will be lost if transgressions occur. Among them, it is very important that the samaya of secret mantra is not lost and is not contaminated by root and branch downfalls. If these samayas are lost, let alone the hope of meditation, there will be no happiness of higher realms in this life and (473) the next, because you will directly fall into the three lower realms. These are common samayas, and if you can accomplish all the other common subsequent samayas, they are also included here. However, do not disturb your mind with many sequences of actions that are unwavering in your vows, but in a state inseparable from practice, without separation from the guru's devotion, the bodhicitta of all supports is not lost, and all ordinary appearances of objects of attachment and aversion are meditated upon as illusions, and not letting attachment and aversion control you, these are the samayas of clear light. Here, the term clear light does not only refer to the clear light of night among the six dharmas, but refers to all the clear light of day and night, so know that it is universally integrated with transference and illusory body. Bardo is also a branch of integration, therefore, this samaya is a common samaya. The second (474) is the self-purification of obstacles and faults: In general, the various texts for dispelling obstacles related to the path of means have been explained elsewhere. Here, clarity and emptiness without grasping, appearance and emptiness self-arising, bliss and emptiness without attachment, these are the wisdom of experience. The opposing forces of these are: grasping and conceptual thoughts running wild, therefore, look at the face of conceptual thoughts and meditate on recognizing self-liberation, self-purification, and self-emptiness. That is, conceptual thought is mind, with the key point of mind being unborn and free from extremes, look at whatever arises without modification, and the nature of awareness dissolves. Letting the self-arising of appearance and emptiness without separation rest in its own place, and sometimes also with a strong intention, recognize all the appearances and awareness of various awarenesses as illusions and let them go. By these two alone, you will be liberated from all obstacles and wrong paths and suffering. The third (475) is to enhance and cut off doubts: Some people have doubts about their own experience.
