It is also necessary to transform into various forms with indefinite colors, indefinite shapes, indefinite sizes, and indefinite numbers. The thirty-sixth contemplation cycle. Third, transforming into various deity forms: The rest is the same as before, but in the state of strong intention of unreality and dream, clearly visualize oneself as the Sahaja Hevajra. Thinking, "How did I fall asleep (438)? This appearance as a deity is also in a dream. I will go wherever I transform." Thinking, "It is necessary to transform into Hevajra who delights," one becomes Hevajra who delights. Then, one transforms into Guhyasamaja, then into Mahamaya, then into Vajrabhairava, etc., transforming into various natures of yidam deities. Similarly, even a single deity is transformed into various indefinite body colors, such as white, blue, and then transformed into red, etc. Similarly, one also transforms into various indefinite faces and hands, thinking of many faces and hands becoming few, few becoming many, and transforming into various faces, etc. The thirty-seventh contemplation cycle. Fourth, transforming into appearance-emptiness without attachment: First, transform into various deity forms. Then, greatly expand the root deity form. Transform all that is expanded into various forms. Intensely cultivate the intention of illusion-like and dream-like for all of these. Again, by carefully looking at the appearance as a deity and the mind of the appearer, (439) one is separated from illusion and the object of grasping illusion. In that state, the clear light Mahamudra, in which nothing can be specified, arises spontaneously. Again, from that state, generate the root deity form, etc., and practice repeatedly as before. Having practiced in this way, at night during dreams, one will have that kind of contemplation on various numbers of deity forms. Then it will become more and more. Finally, in the dream, the deity forms fill the sky, one not obscuring the other, all of which have no attachment to bliss, are clear without conceptualization, and appear without inherent existence, presenting three characteristics. At that time, the dream itself enters into the virtuous conduct of delusion self-purification. The so-called illusion refers to the unobstructed reception of objects and the equal appearance without high or low, due to the power of cultivating the intention of unreality in waking and dreaming, this is called illusion. The so-called separation from grasping at illusion means

Furthermore, the thought that all of this is merely an illusion and there is nothing to cling to (440) will also vanish into the dharmadhatu. This is being free from the clinging of affirmation and negation. At that time, without thinking of anything, the bliss of experience naturally arises, and this is luminosity. This is called Mahamudra, because it is the nature of the mind. Moreover, in the same state, the clear and empty form of the deity naturally arises, and this is also called Mahamudra. Not being attached to bliss means that when the deity naturally appears in a dream, both body and mind clearly experience bliss, but there is no arrogance or conceit, and no craving for this bliss. There is no liking or disliking whether bliss arises or not. Clarity without thought means that the form of the deity appears very clear, but it is a natural arising, without the effort of conceptual thought. Appearance without inherent existence means that the general saying that although it appears, its nature is emptiness also applies here. However, here it refers to the simultaneous appearance (441) of body, speech, and mind, as well as the appearances of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Apart from appearing equally in the face of the sole self-luminous awareness, it is experienced that there is no different substance in each appearance. This is the thirty-eighth practice point. In these stages of dreaming, the key instruction of cutting off extremes is also important. The extensive explanation of cutting off extremes is as shown elsewhere, so it is not explained in the context of the instructions. The essential oral instructions for cutting off extremes, known as "Butter," are detailed elsewhere. Sixth, determining the appearance of objects is divided into four types: for the superior, non-referential clear knowing; for the intermediate, clear seeing of whatever is thought; for the inferior, mind-body flying in space; and for the least, the object of focus. First, non-referential clear knowing means that in the process of practice, even without effort, all hidden things can be seen during the day when awake and at night in dreams. Clear seeing of whatever is thought for the intermediate means that whatever is focused on during the day (442) will naturally appear effortlessly at night. Mind-body flying in space for the inferior means that, similar to other preliminaries, add the concluding prayer, "May the appearance of objects be determined." The actual visualization is: "Tonight, I will see a Buddha-field like this, or see a hidden thing like this."
