manifests as light. A single manifestation serves as a sign. Since dreams alone cannot be certain, if it is very clear, occurs many times, and even after waking up, the mind undergoes a significant change, then it is taken as a sign. Detailed classifications of signs are found in old texts. Although there is no specific focus for practice sessions, the method of practicing the appearance of signs as the path itself is the focus, so it is the fifth focus. Second, the main part includes the six dharmas of Tummo, Illusory Body, Dream, Clear Light, Transference of Consciousness, and Bardo. If we describe the great functions of each of these, the skillful means are the spontaneous combustion of bliss and warmth; the illusory body is the spontaneous liberation of attachment and aversion; the dream is the spontaneous purification of delusion; the clear light is the spontaneous awakening from ignorance; the transference of consciousness is enlightenment without meditation; and the bardo is the Sambhogakaya of the Victorious Ones. Among these, first is the skillful means of spontaneous combustion of bliss and warmth. Tummo itself (page 358) has three parts: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. First, although generally it is the main practice of the instructions, it becomes a preliminary in relation to the main practice of Tummo itself. Therefore, it is called the preliminary body posture, the empty space of fire. Because the warmth is very rapid, it is also called the focus of Tummo's blazing fire. For this, one must first take refuge and generate bodhicitta. Therefore, an initial preliminary practice of Guru Yoga is necessary. One can visualize oneself as the deity's form, or temporarily with the pride of an ordinary person. On the crown of the head, visualize a complete four-petaled lotus. In this stage of Tummo, do not create lotuses of various colors; visualize a white lotus. The Guru residing there, if visualized as his actual form, should also be visualized as having a white body color and radiating white light. Even if visualizing Vajradhara, visualize him as having a body color as white as the autumn moon. In all the occasions of the six dharmas, it is said that visualizing the Guru as his actual form is most important, and thus the practice is established. In short, are you inclined towards the actual form (page 359), or are you inclined towards the form of Vajradhara? Whichever you are inclined towards, visualize that the experience of bodily bliss increases, with a smiling face, as if bestowing blessings upon you. Visualize the Guru Rinpoche, the embodiment of all Buddhas of the three times, and for the benefit of all sentient beings, please cause a special samadhi of bliss and warmth to arise in my body, please cause a special samadhi of bliss and emptiness to arise in my mind.

Please grant blessings! Thus, I pray intensely. Finally, the lama dissolves into the essence of nectar. Entering from the crown of my head, it merges. My ordinary, karmically ripened body, speech, and mind become clear and empty like a rainbow dissolving into the sky. Becoming the body, speech, and mind of the wisdom deity: I myself am the Blessed Mother Vajravarahi, with a red-colored body. The right hand slightly threatening with a vajra pointing downwards, the left hand holding a skull cup of blood at the heart. Naked, adorned with five bone ornaments and a crown of five dry human heads. (360) Wearing a necklace of fifty fresh human heads. Upon a lotus, sun disc, and human corpse with the head facing right. Seated with the right leg extended. Abiding in the midst of blazing flames. With three eyes, disheveled hair, etc., conforming to the general appearance. In any case, visualize yourself as Vajravarahi, with whatever clarity possible regarding the body color, hand implements, and so forth, and maintain a slight focus of mind. This is the external visualization. Then, focus your mind on the inside of the body that is visualized as the deity. The inside of the body is empty and clear, without any flesh, blood, or bones. The appearance of the outer skin is also extremely thin. That empty interior is filled with red light and the nature of warmth. It is like a red silk tent, or like an inflated bellows. It is said that even the roots of the hair and the roots of the body hair should be visualized as empty tubes. In any case, the body that is visualized as the body of Vajravarahi is empty and clear inside. From the crown of the head to the soles of the feet (361), from the soles of the feet to the crown of the head, and to the tips of the fingers and toes, visualize clearly in sequence and focus the mind on the empty and clear interior. This is the internal visualization. If you are doing self-practice guidance, it is very good to spend a few days on each of these two, external and internal. Then, the actual visualization of the fierce fire is: From that point on, the body posture should be the six-point vajra posture: cross the two legs like eyes and sit in a squatting position. The right shin should be inside and the left shin outside. Cross the hands left and right, grasping between the left and right thighs. Bring the two elbows onto the knees and straighten the spine. The gaze and other body postures are the same as usual. Then, at the beginning of the session, exhale slowly and deeply three times. The actual breath control is: After that, inhale the upper air appropriately and fill it below the navel.
