In between, intersperse. Recite in the mouth: All sentient beings equal to the sky, take refuge in the precious Guru (519), the embodiment of the totality of refuge. Recite as much as possible. Do not gather the objects of refuge at this time. Secondly: There is not a single sentient being who has not been my parent, so they are very precious and impoverished, yet they experience endless suffering in samsara. To repay their kindness, I must benefit them. However, the ways of benefiting are not comprehensive, so in order to establish all beings in the state of the great Vajradhara of union, I will meditate on the expedient path of the oral transmission. With such firm resolve in mind. Recite in the mouth: For the sake of all sentient beings equal to the sky, I will attain the state of complete and perfect enlightenment, the all-knowing Buddha. For (520) that purpose, I will practice the profound path, the Six Dharmas of Naropa. Repeat again and again. Once one enters the protection of the Three Jewels and generates the mind of a great being, one will not turn back from the path of liberation, and all actions will become causes for enlightenment. The second preliminary practice, the uncommon purification, the emptiness practice of the letter A: Again, clearly visualize the root Guru previously meditated upon, with intense devotion and longing. Pray with fervent intensity: Precious Guru, the embodiment of all Buddhas of the three times, for the benefit of all sentient beings, please pacify all my illnesses and demonic obstacles. Please purify all my sins and obscurations. Please cause special samadhi to arise in my being. (521) Praying in this way as much as possible, the Guru dissolves into light, enters from the crown of the head, and dissolves, purifying and eliminating the nature of the dull-minded brain. From the throat upwards, the head is like a water bubble, white in color and light to the touch, inside which is a white triangular Dharma source, like a clear and transparent glass container. The root is thin, reaching the throat, and one corner of the tip pointing upwards touches the eyebrow, and the other two corners lightly touch the left and right back of the ears. In the center of the Dharma source, directly in front, is a white letter A, representing the unborn nature of the Guru and one's own mind, with a clear and luminous nature. Half of it is inside the Dharma source, and about half of it appears above. First, focus and fix the mind on the (522) unsupported floating state. Then, with a balanced degree of tension and relaxation, maintain awareness as much as possible.

If possible, recite the short A syllable mantra about twenty-one times. From the syllable A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A), a stream of white nectar descends with power. It fills the source of Dharma fire, dripping and flowing, pervading and washing the entire body inside and out. The sins, obscurations, habitual tendencies, misappropriation of offerings, consumption of effigies, broken vows, etc., accumulated from beginningless time, pass out from the pores and sense doors in the form of smoke and soot, black and murky. The heavy impurities of the body also disappear as if melting, and the nectar washes from the outside as well, disappearing black and murky into the ground for a long (523) distance. Visualize your own body as a clear crystal ball, filled with unobstructed white rainbow-like nectar, and relax your awareness. When specifically practicing this, repeat those visualizations and recitations, and one of the initial Guru Yogas is sufficient. This visualization has two branches, namely pacifying disease: For fever, visualize the white, cool nectar as the form of red disease; for cold disease, visualize the red, hot nectar as the form of white, swollen disease; for wind disease or mixed disease, visualize the yellow, oily nectar as the form of blue, swollen disease, etc. At the site of pain, visualize a hole appearing, and clear it away completely by blowing. Pacifying demons: Visualize the nectar descending from the syllable A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) transforming into the nemesis of each demon, such as a wrathful, yellow, fierce deity, and with a stream of fire and boiling wrathful water, accompanied by the sound of mantra, completely annihilate them, and then rest in equanimity. The object to be purified is originally unestablished, the means of purification is the unborn syllable itself. Pacifying all elaborations, the meaning of the Middle Way, is unparalleled among all methods of purification. The first of the Six Dharmas, the path of skillful means, bliss-heat self-igniting, has three parts: preliminaries, main practice, and conclusion. Preliminaries, the key point of the body is the fire void or fierce blazing mother of heat: Visualize yourself as spontaneously born great bliss, or even as an ordinary body, on the crown of your head, on a wide and vast precious throne supported by eight lions, above a white lotus and sun and moon, the root guru is as white as the autumn moon (525), with a smiling face. Visualize the guru blessing you. If there are many wrong thoughts, or if it is necessary to pray upwards with devotion, it is also permissible to visualize Vajradhara. The special characteristic of these Six Dharmas is to visualize the guru as the actual body. In any case, the refuge
