Like that, harm cannot be done. Therefore, this present appearance is an appearance of the mind itself being deluded, so the self, the one being harmed, and all illnesses, other than from one's own thoughts, do not exist in any essence. It is also said in the Dharma: "One's own mind is called a demon. One's own mind is called an obstacle. All obstacles arise from conceptual thought. Therefore, abandon conceptual thought." Thus it is said. Therefore, holding one's own thoughts as existent, holding them as true, holding them as different from the mind, holding them as flawed, all the sufferings of samsara are generated. Therefore, since there is nothing outside of one's own thoughts that becomes an obstacle, the only thing to be abandoned is one's own thought itself. If one examines it in this way, it converges into one's own mind. If one examines the mind, it abides in emptiness, so one's own mind is clear light, and the mind of all sentient beings is clear light, and there is no difference from the wisdom of the enlightened mind of the Buddhas. Since all are one Dharmakaya, who harms whom? Who causes harm? How is harm caused? In ultimate truth, nothing is established as different. But in relative truth, all illnesses and demonic influences reside in one's own thoughts, and thoughts reside in the Dharmakaya. Thinking in this way, without any conceptualization, let go and relax freely. Like throwing away vomit, let go without attachment. Like a leper's corpse, let go without need. Like an empty house where the owner has died, let go without attachment. Thus, since all phenomena have always been unestablished, now it is as if an unloosened knot in the sky, or as if bound tightly by a rope made of turtle hair. One's own mind rises as a demon, and one thinks, "I am bound by my own thoughts and deluded by suffering." One doubts because of illness, one doubts being harmed by spirits, one hopes for the illness to be cured, and so forth. All hopes and doubts, and all conceptualizations of negation and affirmation, should be placed in the state of emptiness and released into the state of Dharma. If one cannot bear to rely on that alone, then one shouts "Thupchom" (a Tibetan word for "shout"), emits light, pulls from the hair, calls out names, and at that moment there is trembling, goosebumps, and disorientation. At that moment, out of two thoughts, it abides in one's own mind, and one thinks, "This is the way it appears," and one makes a decision in one's own mind and abides. Thinking in this way, one goes with ease and comfort.

Body and mind naturally abide in their respective places and arise. When it is taken away, if you think that Apa is in your own mind, then non-conceptual nakedness will appear at that time. Therefore, for the three—disease, demons, and oneself—if you examine them with the wisdom of individually knowing them, that which has never been born from the beginning is the unborn Dharmakaya. Because there is nothing to refute in the unborn, there is no cessation, which is the unceasing Sambhogakaya. Because there is no dwelling in the space empty of arising and ceasing, there is no dwelling, which is the non-dwelling Nirmanakaya. Thus, that which is not established in any of the three times is without substance. That which is without substance is the Svabhavikakaya. Thus, the result, the four kayas, are not separate from the three—disease, demons, and one's own mind. One should view them as the four kayas themselves. Thus, every time realization arises, one should know that one is holding the four kayas in hand. Every time realization arises, one should understand it as the self-manifestation of the nature of reality. One should view all diseases and demons as kind benefactors. This is the instruction for introducing the four kayas. This shows how to transform adverse conditions into the path of ultimate bodhicitta. After meditating on the two bodhicittas in this way, or under their influence, one should think in this way to cut off hope and fear. So, this harmer is using me to train in the two bodhicittas, and this seems to be putting enlightenment in my hands, so I think this is very kind. Furthermore, because such suffering results from the cause of sin and non-virtue, if you do not want suffering, then purify the cause of sin, and in the future, abandon sin. Because it has become an admonition, one should think that it is very kind. Therefore, these harmers are separated from the antidote, and they are unaware that afflictions have arisen, so it has become a warning. One should definitely view this as an emanation of the lama from the bottom of one's heart. Furthermore, this harmer has brought here the suffering of one birth in the lower realms, which is certain to be born in the future due to the evil karma of my previous life, so it has blocked the door to the lower realms. One should think that this is very kind. So, since this has accomplished so much benefit for me, one should think that this is definitely one of the activity of the lama and the Three Jewels. With contentment
